Photos, Mount Vernon Cemetery, Rural Jefferson County, Colorado June 2005 Edition of the Cemetery Photo Index The indexed photographs can be viewed by visiting the Colorado Tombstone Photo Project page at: http://www.usgwarchives.net/co/costones/jefferson/mtvernon.htm The first burial in Mount Vernon Cemetery was in 1860. It is now abandoned and in poor condition with only two tombstones and a wooden cross in evidence. Some attempt has been made to keep what remains in good repair as the remaining gravestones have been repaired and there is a wooden fence around the area. Unfortunately, at least one stone looks as if it was used for target practice. The photographs in this portion of the archives were contributed by: Dennis & Bev Bailey (dbb) Headstones * Unknown, wooden cross (dbb) * Dean, Rev. I.
