E. R. Willey yesterday received a telegram from E. B. Harlan at Leadville stating that the body of Walter Harlan, his brother, and Mr. Willey's brother- in-law, had been found and that the funeral would be held today. Walter Harlan disappeared on the 30th of last November, during the first snow storm which occurred in the Leadville section. On that day he left his brother's cabin on the Little Ellen hill near the Kohinoor shaft to cross South Evans gulch to the Ibex mine. Although diligent search was made no trace of him was found until Friday when his decomposed remains were found in a 35--foot shaft on the Ocean claim only a short distance from his brother's cabin. The skull was crushed and the features were so decomposed as to be unrecognizable. Identification was made by the clothing and a watch and chain which Harlan wore. Mrs. Harlan, the dead man's mother, left Aspen for Leadville soon after her son's disappearance and has been waiting there for the snow to melt so that the body might be found. Leadville Lodge No. 40, A.O.U.W., of which deceased was a member, will have charge of the funeral.
