Obituary: DURANGO EVENING HERALD
                April 16, 1927

J. C. Smith, Aged 
    Bayfield Farmer, 
        Buried Sunday

    J. C. Smith, 80, for the past 21 years a farmer in the Bayfield section, 
died at Bayfield at 10 o'clock yesterday morning.  He has been sick since 
last Thanksgiving.
    He is survived by his widow, four sons, M. E. Smith, and I. L. Smith of 
Bayfield, A.G. Smith of Ft. Scott, Kansas, and J. E. Smith of Kansas City, 
and three daughters, Mrs. Lon Baker and Mrs. L. L. Briggs of Bayfield, and 
Mrs. S. J. Vanholm of Sedalia, Mo.
    Funeral services will be held at Bayfield Sunday afternoon with the Hood 
Mortuary in charge.
