1901 Bio - Beller, C.F.W, Larimer County, Colorado Transcribed by Marta Norton February 6, 2000 The Berthoud Bulletin Newspaper Saturday, September 7, 1901 (The following is a small portion of a big news article about Berthoud. I am only transcribing the bio part). In the following columns we are pleased to give the pictures and personal sketches of a number of the people who assisted in making this beautiful and prosperous county what it is: C.F.W. Beller The subject of this sketch was born in Gross Suessen, Germany, in the Kingdom of Wuertemburg, March 5, 1827. His parents died when he was quite young. There he was raised and educated in what we would term a seminary, and taught school from his seventeenth to twenty-fifth year. Incidentally his wife was one of his pupils in Germany, but it was not until their removal to the United States that they were married. Arriving here in 1852 he farmed in Berrien County, Michigan, four years. From there he moved to Iowa, Floyd County, and farmed until 1871, when he removed to Longmont, having made a trip to Pike’s Peak in 1860. About twenty-one years ago he moved to this place and settled on his present farm west of town – school land. His marriage to Miss Barbara Idler took place September 1, 1861, in Floyd County, Iowa. Mrs. Beeler was born October 28, 1839, at Stettin, Germany. With her parents she came to Michigan in 1851. Mr. and Mrs. Beeler have six children living and two dead. The living are: Jennie, born July 31, 1862, now Mrs. D. Windnagie; Emma Bertha, born December 25, 1863, married to Thomas Lawson at Minto, Oregon; Rosa, born May 21, 1865; Albert, born April 6, 1869, married to Emma Flora; Carl Otto, born October 4, 1876; Florence May, born December 24, 1883. In memoriam are Nora Melvina, born in Iowa, June 1, 1870. She was married to John Mundt at Fort Collins, died May 6, 1894; Lillie Julia, born April 14, 1874, and died October 19, 1894. =================================================== Contributed for use by the USGenWeb Archive Project (http://www.usgenweb.org) and by the COGenWeb Archive Project USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
