1901 Bio - Hull, Levy R., Larimer County, Colorado Transcribed by Marta Norton February 6, 2000 The Berthoud Bulletin Newspaper Saturday, September 7, 1901 (The following is a small portion of a big news article about Berthoud. I am only transcribing the bio part). In the following columns we are pleased to give the pictures and personal sketches of a number of the people who assisted in making this beautiful and prosperous county what it is: Levy R. Hull Another man, who, while he has not been in the state as long as some, has taken an important part in the upbuilding of the country. That is Levy R. Hull, who was born in Adams County, Illinois near Plainville, September9, 1857. In his father’s family were twelve children, eight boys and four girls. John E. Hull, his father was a quite influential man in his community and county. For several years he held the office of County Supervisor, serving on that board three terms. L.R. moved to Colorado in the spring of 1888 and farmed seven years on the W.T. Bransom place. Then he bought a quarter section of land which he improved very nicely. It was on account of his wife’s health that his removal to Colorado was made. With sickness in his family and about four dollars in his pocket he arrived in the state, arranging with creditors for future payment of a debt of $200. This he settled as soon as he was able and by well directed efforts reached a substantial financial basis. Last fall he sold the improved half of his quarter-section to good advantage. On the other eighty he at once began improvement for a home. He is now an independent farmer and is enjoying the result of former efforts. Mrs. Hull’s maiden name was Rebecca Bransom, born November 22, 1859. They were married December 3, 1888. One child was raised, a daughter. Her name is Leiah H., now the wife of Henry Millard. Mr. Hull has never taken much interest in politics; he never neglects the duties of citizenship in that respect. He is a member of Loveland Lodge, K of P. =================================================== Contributed for use by the USGenWeb Archive Project (http://www.usgenweb.org) and by the COGenWeb Archive Project USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
