WWI Draft, Courier Newspaper, Jun 7, 1918, Larimer County, Colorado Transcribed and contributed by: Marta Norton October 26, 1999 The Fort Collins Courier Newspaper Friday, June 7, 1918 57 Men Called to go to Camp Cody on June 25 Within the five day period beginning with June 24 Larimer County will send out 57 more men to start training in the Army. The list of names was prepared today by the local exemption board and these men will join thousands of others in preparing for the big fight. they will go to Camp Cody, Deming, NM. The list includes five men who are selected to replace five men who have been discharged because of some physical defect. Among the 57 in the name of Edward Irving Herring who is not known by any other name than "Ted" Herring of Scott's Pharmacy. Ted is a volunteer having waived all right to deferred classification. He was in Class 2 because he is married but now is in Class 1 and is one of the first to be sent in the new list.
