Foster Cemetery, Old Foster Stage Stop, Las Animas County, Colorado Transcribed by Sheila Allen and donated 15 March 1999. The Foster Cemetery is located 10 miles east of Aguilar, Co. It is in the middle of grazing land. I have actual directions for those who need it. It is on the bank of the El Rio Florido (now the Apishapa) river. History: Foster Home was originally a stage station owned by James Allen Foster. Built in 1862 and in 1873 a railroad line was established near the stop and the population started to shift upward on the river towards Aguilar. The town of Apishapa was platted during the early 1880's. The stage stop was eventually sold and later abandoned. I have a bit of information of James Allen Foster and his family.
