AGUILAR.

    Situated in Las Animas county, the center of the Southern Colorado
    coal fields midway between Walsenburg and Trinidad on the C. & S. Ry.
    The distributing point for several large coal camps employing from
    1,500 to 2,000 miners and the outfitting point for several large
    sawmills, also the center of the Apishapa valley, with large
    agricultural and stock-raising interests. A splendid water system
    has just been completed.
    Population 1,600.
    Altitude 6,444 feet.
