Bowen & Co., Chicago, Ill. --------------------------------------- James H. Whitsell James H. Whitsell was born in Pennsylvania on June 11, 1857. His father, Lawrence Whitsell, was one of the pioneers of Appanoose county, Iowa, and took up one of the first tracts of land homesteaded there. He passed the rest of his days in the county, dying on his homestead in 1898. His son James came to this state a number of years ago, and at once began to take an active part in its industrial and commercial life. For twelve years he was employed by the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company, and for a long period of this time was one of the company's superintendents. He located on his ranch in 1903. In politics he is an active and zealous Democrat, and in the performance of all his duties as a citizen he is faithful and enterprising.
