Potters Field "Historic Cemetery", Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado Submitted by Gladys Tovrea Brandstoettner at wbrand@gj.net September 7, 1999 The cemetery is located 1/4 mile south of the intersection of B 3/4 Road and 26 3/8 Roads (the entrance to the Department of Energy). It is on the East Side of the road, and is surrounded by a barbed wire fence, that has a small break for an entrance. There is a large wooden plaque in the south west corner of the cemetery that is visible from the road. The little cemetery is in bad condition, full of tumbleweeds and anthills. It is obvious there has been no attendance for years. There were only 3 markers visible and only one that was totally readable. One of the makers stated WWI Veteran, but had no visible name. The wooden plaque reads Potters Field Historic Cemetery, "Presented by the Telephone Pioneers of America", no date. On the back on the plaque it states "Those known to be buried here". Baby Garland -1881 B.A. Scott -1883 P.H. Gordon -1883 Elmer Rice -1911 Bertha Kaufman 1909-1911 (was readable, and had plastic flowers and a fairly new teddy bear sitting in a cup by the stone.)
