M. Barber is Dead. On Tuesday morning the spirit of Mrs. H. M. Barber passed peacefully away to its eternal home. Mrs. Barber had been ill only a few days and was not thought to be in a very serious condition until a day or so before the very last. The local lodge of Woodmen had charge of the funeral. The services by Rev. O. B. Sarber of Durango were impressive and the remains were followed to the grave by a large number of sorrowing friends of this good woman who had lived an upright life and who did not know how to do an ignoble deed. Mrs. Barber was known and loved far and near for her purity of life, her untiring Christian activity, and her tender motherly sympathy for the unfortunate and the distressed. Her entire life was a sweet benediction to all that felt the touch of her influence. The community is much the poorer because of her death. A good woman, true friend, loving and loved wife, devoted mother, a cherished neighbor has passed away. Mrs. Barber was one of the very first settlers of this valley. She leaves a husband, three sons, Everett and Ray Willis and Flake Barber, the is now at school in the East, and Mrs. J. R. George to mourn her death and to these we have but poor words to offer. Words are worthless. May every comfort be given them. Additional Comments: Name is America Josephine Weston, She was born 14 Jan 1855. She married David Willis 20 Aug 1871 in Mitchell County, Kansas.
