Mr. Henry Daines Eaton, in the seventy-second year of his life. Mr. Eaton was born Sept. 17, 1833, in Cortlandt Co., New York. In 1836, his parents removed to Carroll Co., Illinois where he grew to manhood. Dec 24, 1862, he married Lina Monroe and their union was blessed with seven children. His wife, four sons and one daughter are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. He came of an old colonial family, his ancestor, John Eaton, of England having settled in Dedham, Mass in 1635. Of the many descendants of John Easton some have been high in the army, the pulpit and in learned pursuits. More have been farmers and all have been, like the subject of this sketch, patriotic lovers of their country. His grandfather served in the revolution, his father in the war of 1812, and the army roll of the civil war contains the names of many Eatons. He deeply appreciated the kindness of friends and neighbors who tried to help in every way during his last illness. A firm believer in the doctrine of universal salvation, he trusted in the love and mercy of a just and loving Heavenly Father. The rule of his life was the Golden Rule and he loved all things good and true. Peace to his pure spirit, to his worn and tired body rest.
