Obits: Lambert; Mancos Times-Tribune 1923, Montezuma County, Colorado http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/montezuma/obits/l5162505.txt Donated by Kathy Maez 24 November 2000 The Mancos Times-Tribune Jan. 12, 1923 Mr. and Mrs. Frank Martinez lost an infant daughter two weeks old on Tuesday of this week and on Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. William Lambert lost their two-weeks-old son, both dying of pneumonia. Both families live in the Pinewood community. The Mancos Times-Tribune Jan. 19, 1923 John Henry Lambert was born Dec. 26, 1922, and departed his short life Jan. 10, 1923, aged 15 days. He was buried at Pinewood Jan. 12 at 3 P.M., beautiful and comforting words being spoken by David Halls. Little John Henry leaves to mourn his short life here a father, mother, six brothers and two sisters, grandparents and other relatives. The floral tributes and little white casket were beautiful. Everything possible was done by relatives and kind friends to save the little one's life, but all was in vain. God knew best and chose to take it to be with Him where it will be free from pain and the hardships of this life and may God draw near and comfort the parents in this their first bereavement. The parents wish to thank all those who were so kind to them in their great sorrow. --------------------------- Note: William Henry Lambert, probably grandfather of John Henry, passed away on March 9. He had been sick through the winter, but I'm sure this event didn't help his health. The Mancos Times-Tribune March 9, 1923: Page 1 Passing of W.H. Lambert After a lingering illness that has afflicted him more or less all winter, W.H. Lambert passed away at his ranch home in the Pinewood community, Wednesday morning. The Funeral service has been arranged to take place at the Pinewood Schoolhouse at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, burial to follow immediately in the community cemetery. William Henry Lambert was born in the State of Illinois June 25, 1852. Died near Mancos, Colorado, March 7, 1923. He came to Mancos seventeen years ago and settled on a homestead in what later became known as the Pinewood settlement where he has since resided. He led a quiet, simple life, was a good citizen and leaves many friends who esteemed him well. He is survived by his wife and three sons, they being John, Harry and William, and a granddaughter, Gerty White, and other grandchildren. (He was preceded in death by his daughter Iona Lambert White.) =================================================== Contributed for use by the USGenWeb Archive Project (http://www.usgenweb.org) and by the COGenWeb Archive Project USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
