She was born in Pagosa Springs on July 4, 1904, to John and Winifred Richmond Walker. In the same year, her family established itself in Arboles, Colo., at the confluence of the San Juan and Piedra Rivers, where they remained until the construction of the Navajo Dam. Lottie attended the Fort Lewis Boarding School at the Hesperus campus, where she graduated from the Rural Teachers' Training Program. She attended summer courses at the college in Greely and taught at the Arboles and Stollsteimer Elementary Schools until her marriage to Fred Reddert in 1926. They first lived in Fort Collins, where she attended classes in English Literature until Dr. Reddert's graduation from the School of Veterinary Medicine in 1928. By 1931, Fred and Lottie Reddert were working together establishing his veterinary medicine practice in Santa Cruz, Calif., where they remained until the early 1950s. They gradually moved to the Mancos ranch, much of which had been purchased from the family of George Menefee, Fred Reddert's step-father. During the California years, Lottie was active as a teacher, writer,school board member and YMCA president. However, her life was primarily spent assisting 'Doc' Reddert's veterinary,ranch and community activities. After his death in 1979, she managed the Reddert Ranch. During the last 50 years, she has been active in the Mancos Valley with the Methodist Church, PEO and Cowbelles, and has written memoirs of Menefee, Walker and Reddert family members, as well as a history of the Mancos Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Naomi Reddert of Carmel, Calif.; a daughter and son- in-law, Norma and Corrick Brown of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a brother, James Walker, of Arboles, Colo.; three grandsons, Ryan and Derek Brown, both of Washington, D.C., and Keven Brown of Santa Rosa, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Gabriel Healey Brown of Washington, D.C., Mikayla Mieko Brown of Santa Rosa, Calif., Julianna Hellman Brown of Washington, D.C.; six nieces and nephews and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancos Methodist Church, to the Fred and Lottie Reddert Scholarship Fund at the San Juan Basin Vo-Tech School or to an educational program of the donor's choice. Funeral services were held on Oct. 30 at the Mancos United Methodist Church Interment followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Revs. Ora Dailey and Bud Rousset officiated.
