Hill Services for Charles E. Hill of 101 W.N. Ninth St., who died Monday at 11:50 p.m. in Memorial Hospital will be conducted by the Rev. Willis Phelps Friday at 11 a.m. from Summer's Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Grand View Cemetery. Born April 14, 1891 at Boone, Iowa, Charles E. Hill was the son of Amos J. And Ida (Godfrey) Hill. In 1898, the family moved to Colorado, locating first at Rocky Ford. He had been a resident of the Montrose area for more than 60 years and prior to his retirement,farmed for 23 years on Spring Creek Mesa. On Dec 25, 1916, Mr. Hill was married at Montrose to Juanita Jones. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons and four daughters. Amos E. Hill, Glenwood Springs; Charles M. Hill, Warner Robins, Georgia; James T. Hill, Denver; Ernest J. Hill and Mrs. Bill(Viola J.) Raimer, both of Montrose; George Hill of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Carol D. Hill,Hotchkiss; Mrs. Louis (Grace) Gonzales, San Jose, Calif; Mrs. Charles(Ida. F.) Johnson, Imperial Beach, Calif. One son, William, died in 1964 and a daughter, Mary, in 1971. There are 37 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Lois Rogers, Concord, Calif; Mrs. Amy Billings and Frank M. Hill of Grand Junction; John Hill, Cottage Grove, Ore. Mr. Hill was a member of the Methodist Church. Additional Comments: This is my grandfather. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a real cowboy and was musically inclined. He played the guitar, the banjo and the violin. My grandmother, Juanita Jones met him at a social where he was playing.
