Smith, mother of Mrs. McGraw and Mrs. Morgan, living just east of the city, died on Saturday at nine o'clock, and was interred in Cedar Cemetery, undertaker Holcomb having charge. Mrs. Smith was 64 years of age, and besides the two daughters here, had a son living in Iowa. Friends of the family are deeply grieved over the death of Mrs. Smith. Additional Comments: Rhoda Ann Smith was born on 31 January 1841 in Knox Co., Illinois, to Moses Smith and Rhoda Tabitha George. She married Benjamin Frank Brandon on 26 August 1855 in Adams Co., Illinois. They were divorced before 1880 in possibly Iowa. Children of this marriage who lived to adulthood were: William Martin Brandon, born about 1857 in Iowa, married Elizabeth C. Van Winkle on 26 April 1877 in Taylor Co., Iowa; Almyra Melissa Brandon, born about 1859 in Illinois, married 1)James Hartup/Hartief about 1876, possibly Taylor Co., Iowa, and 2) Ernst McGraw (see Montrose County Marriges: S.E. McGraw to Mrs. Myra Hartief on 9 April 1899); Martha L. Brandon, born about 1860 in possibly Iowa, married William R. Morgan on 29 January 1880 in Taylor Co., Iowa.
