Rocky Ford

    Rocky Ford, a growing city of 5,500 inhabitants, lies in the prettiest part
    of the Arkansas valley one of the best irrigated sections of Colorado. More
    than any other feature, it is the climate of Rocky Ford that attracts and
    holds the stranger looking for a place with the advantages of farming
    by irrigation and the attributes of altitude sunshine, and the consequent
    pure, dry atmosphere. It is not alone the health feature that attracts to
    Rocky Ford. Since it has been demonstrated that the sugar beet is sweeter,
    the cantaloupe and all other vegetables are better flavored, and that the
    fruit has a prettier blush and is of superior quality where the sun's work
    is uninterrupted, and moisture applied without the presence of a cloud nor a
    day's delay when needed, the commercial worth of Rocky Ford as a place to
    live is a prominent feature. There are no saloons in Rocky Ford and liquor
    is not sold in any manner. The new $50,000 high school building, located in
    a fine park, is a model of architecture and completeness. There are five
    school buildings nicely located, employing 37 teachers and supported by
    1,400 pupils. Rocky Ford has 8 churches, 4 banks, 3 newspapers, a beet sugar
    factory Costing $1,000,000, a canning factory, creamery, flour mill,
    electric light and power plant, steam laundry, opera house, Carnegie
    library, etc., and an energetic Chamber of Commerce that will be pleased to
    furnish descriptive literature of town and country.
