Fairplay Ranger Station Cemetery, Fairplay Colorado Transcribed by: Joe and Lucy Brown email: JBrownYuma@aol.com The Fairplay Ranger Station Cemetery located at the west end of the Town of Fairplay has seven grave sites. Three graves are marked with headstones. The U.S. Forest Service, in an effort to preserve the site, has erected a fence around the cemetery site. The five men shot to death by the two Espinosa men in 1863 are buried in the cemetery. Mr. Harold Warren in the April 13, 1990 Fairplay Flume newspaper, writes of the events of the Espinosas and their five victims. To visit the cemetery, turn off Hwy. 9 just north of the South Park City Museum. The cemetery is located on the U.S. Forest Service property at the end of the street.
