Painter, Editor and Publisher 21 Feb 1908, Friday, Vol. 21 - No. 30 Page One A jury was summoned for the county court for Tuesday but there was nothing for them to do as the two criminal cases were disposed of on Monday without trial, one being cited to the district court and the defendant in the other pleading guilty. The jury was excused till Wednesday February 26, when the civil cases will be disposed of. O. Canaday Mercantile Co. of Holyoke had the misfortune to lose a number of young hogs during the past week. Last Saturday morning the hogs in one pen began to sicken and die. It seemed to be the general opinion that the hogs died from the effects of something that they had eaten but what it was has not yet been discovered to a certainty. About 20 hogs have died. Page Four Mrs. Ernest Hageman is dangerously sick. A.W. Anderson of the Haxtun country was in Holyoke Thursday. Hon. O.C. Zingg has traded his residence property in Holyoke for property in Greeley where he and his family now make their home. M. Odland returned Saturday from a business trip to Vermillion, South Dakota. M. Anderson of Haxtun was in Holyoke Thursday on business. H.E. Munson of Sterling was in Holyoke Monday on business before the county court. Ray Zimmerman returned yesterday from Greeley where he had been attending the State Normal. Mrs. Dora Sturgis from Michigan arrived in Holyoke Thursday for a visit with Mrs. E.K. Lewis of Holyoke. Mrs. C.G. Cramer entertained the ladies of the Art and Needle Club at her home in Holyoke Tuesday afternoon. Reuben Churning of McCook, Nebraska is visiting his mother of this county. He and his brother, Ed, have recently passed an examination at Denver and received appointments as electricians in Uncle Sam's navy. Reuben as first class and Ed second class and they will go to San Francisco to begin work under their appointment, enlisting for a term of four years. FOR SALE - A top buggy, good as new, or will trade for good young cows. Inquire at this office. W.P. Summers formerly of this county but now residing in Nebraska is in attendance on the term of county court at Holyoke this week. B.L. Vance moved his household good from Grant, Nebraska to Holyoke Monday. He will occupy the Button Land Co's building and will represent the company in the land business. A.E. Patrick has purchased lots on the corner of Hale Street and Campbell Avenue and has commenced the erection of a barn. Later on he will build a dwelling house on these lots. Alvin Hartman of Freeport, Illinois stopped off at Holyoke Tuesday for a days visit with his sister, Mrs. W.D. Kelsey. Page Five SUMMONS State of Colorado, County of Phillips, District Court S.H.
