My only reason for selling is that I have too much other business and cannot take time to oversee the elevator business. NOTICE TO SHAREHOLDERS Five dollars on each share of Holyoke Telephone Company has been called by the Phillips County Telephone Company for the purchase of central office buildings. This is now due. I did not call it nor can I explain it farther. You will do me a favor by going to the Farmers and Merchants Bank and paying it. Otherwise I will have to call on you. -- J.T. Hazen, U.S. weather reporter for this county, reports the precipitation of moisture for this county for the month of May at 4.45 inches. That is a good showing for May. Mrs. Hallie Fouch of Albuquerque, New Mexico, who had been nursing her sister Miss Alta Kelsey of this county in a severe sickness, was called home the first of the week by the sickness of her husband. Dr. Thomas Eichelberger from Haxtun passed through Holyoke on the east bound train Tuesday. He recently graduated from the Denver Medical School and is now looking for a location to practice medicine. The following resolution was adopted by the town board at its last meeting: Be it resolved by the board of trustees of the town of Holyoke, Phillips County, Colorado that the street and alley committee have added to their duties the locating of all telephone poles. Peter Jones is building an addition to his livery barn. The Methodist church building is being repainted. C.W. Sederburg is building a house on his homestead west of Holyoke. Messrs D.F. Ferris, Dyke and J.M. Irwin are in New Mexico to buy cattle. Mrs. Gus Peters of Sterling has been visiting her parents in Holyoke this week. Mrs. M.G. Reeves who holds a position in the City Drug Store is visiting in Farnam this week. Herman Miller of Hastings was in Holyoke this week looking after property interests. Mrs. Painter and daughters left this morning for a visit at Hastings and other points in Nebraska. W.F. Patmon and son, Charley, returned the first of the week from a trip to Grant this state. F.J. Arnold has resigned his position with the Phillips County Bank and will take a position in a lumber yard in Wyoming. The graduating exercises of the eighth grade pupils of the county will take place at the opera house on Friday evening June 12. In the divorce case of Blance Tracy vs Jean Tracy before the county court Monday a decree was entered for the plaintiff. A change in the Burlington time card brings the train from the west into Holyoke at 10:37 a.m. and the train from the east at 5:31 p.m. Shepard & Slack have dissolved partnership. Mr. Shepard taking the meat market and grocery store and Mr. Slack the tract of land adjoining Holyoke on the north. Mrs. Stella Summers, county superintendent, and a number of the Phillips County teachers are attending the teachers institute at Sterling this week. Miss Bentson, assistant principal of the Phillips County High School, will be in Holyoke Wednesday June 10, to begin the examinations of high school pupils. Dr. Ina Patterson returned Thursday from Lincoln, Nebraska, where she had been taking care of the practice of another physician during absence from the city. The examinations in the Holyoke schools will begin on Wednesday June 10. All pupils in the several grades should be in attendance at the school building at the regular school hour on that date. Mr. Larson with a son and daughter who had been visiting his daughter Mrs. M. Odland of this county, left Monday for their home near Vermillion, South Dakota. Mrs. Odland and children accompanied them for a visit at the old home. The diagonal road leading southwest from Holyoke has been fenced up and now people from the southwest are forced to turn square corners and come into town from the south or west. In fact the whole country surrounding Holyoke is being fenced so that there is no longer a possibility of leaving Holyoke by driving across the prairie in most any direction. Whereas, It has seemed wise of our Heavenly Father to enter the home of our beloved Neighbor Dilla Cramer and take to himself her infant son: Therefore, We the members of the Royal Neighbor Camp do extend to her and her family in this their great affliction our most sincere sympathy. Resolved that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family and local and official papers for publication, and that they be spread on the records of this Camp. Mrs. Estella Summers, Mrs. G.W. Garland, Ida M. Maddock, Committee. Mrs. Ellen Anderson left Holyoke Tuesday for Iowa. Robert Johnson has accepted a position in the Phillips County Bank. Mr. and Mrs. Gene LeBlanc of Bridgeport, Nebraska arrived in Holyoke Tuesday morning for a visit with relatives. M.D. Copp left Holyoke Tuesday for Cedar Rapids, Iowa to attend a Grand Army reunion.
