McPherrin made a business trip to Nebraska points this week. Fred Borland left Holyoke Thursday morning for Shenandoah, Iowa, where he was called by the sickness of his father. Mr. and Mrs. John Heginbotham returned Thursday from a couple of weeks visit in Denver. Earl Berryman returned Wednesday from a visit in Illinois. Dr. F.W. Bennett, veterinary surgeon and dentist, has opened an office at the west side livery barn. See his card in this issue. A.W. Scruggs has reopened the Pioneer Meat Market in Holyoke and is prepared to satisfy customers in his line. C.E. Paul, Ira Kepler, A.M. Anderson and Alva Trego left Holyoke Saturday for Pueblo to attend the republican state convention. No orchestra music tomorrow night owing to the entertainment at the court house. -- LeBlanc & Scheunemann. J.W. Young made a trip to Pueblo this week. Mrs. O.H. Helland of Haxtun was in Holyoke Tuesday. A fine boy arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.G. Cramer of Holyoke on Wednesday April 28. A new cement walk is being laid in front of the residence properties of Dr. F.M. Means and George King. Miss Gulse who had been teaching school in this county left Monday for Boulder to attend summer school. Paul Renck and Otto Fulscher have had cement walks laid in front of their residence properties in the eastern part of town. Rev. and Mrs. Winterbourne, M. Anderson and Emil Larson of Haxtun attended the Sunday School convention at Holyoke Saturday. J.W. Young, coal, oil and ice merchant has recently made improvements on the inside of his office building that very materially improves its appearance. Mrs. Norman Harvey and little granddaughter Norma Mowry, daughter of C.A. Mowry of Holyoke, who had been visiting in Holyoke, left last Friday for their home at Grant, Nebraska. A number of the friends of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schroeder of this county planned and carried out a surprise for them at their home on Thursday April 23. There were about 75 persons in the surprise party and they took with them a splendid dinner of which all partook. They took with them also, as a token of their regard for Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder, a nice large clock which was presented to them. A very enjoyable time is reported. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Witherbee left Holyoke Tuesday for Brighton where they will make their home. The people of Holyoke regret very much to see them leave our town and wish them success in their new home. The Witherbee Brothers, Lee and L.C. were in the cattle business several years before there was any such a place as Holyoke but recently decided to close out their stock business, sell the large ranch and go into other business. Mrs. Witherbee’s father, Mr. Kubner of Denver, is interested in the canning business at Brighton and Lee Witherbee will have charge of the business at that point.
