She is a young lady whose many attractive qualities of character enable her to make friends of all with whom she becomes acquainted. Charley Peterson has resided in Holyoke only a couple of years but, in his business and social relations with the people, he has so conducted himself as to gain the high regarded of a large acquaintance. The young couple will make their home in Holyoke. They have the best wishes of the Herald. Otto Fulscher of Holyoke has purchased a fine new passenger automobile. Page Three Ad - SPECIAL SALE! W.J. Hotelling of Tecumseh, Nebraska who had been in Holyoke for the past month left Monday for their home. They expect to return to Holyoke in the spring to make their home. Charley Johnson, the republican candidate for sheriff, may be said to be a Phillips County man. He came to this county when a boy and grew to manhood among our people and is well known throughout the county. Part of the time he has been engaged in business and his uniformly courteous treatment of all who had business with him made him many friends. All who know him know that he is well qualified for the duties of sheriff. He would give good satisfaction in that office and the voters will run no risk in giving him the office. For county clerk the republicans have named Scott Evans, one of the earliest settlers in this county, a man who has shared in all of the experience of the past years of our county, and a man who has always been a staunch and loyal republican. For a time in the early days in addition to his farming he was one of the school teachers of the county. He is well qualified for the duties of this office and is courteous and accommodating in all of his business relations with his fellowmen. You will make no mistake in placing Scott Evans in the clerk’s office. C.A. Guernsey needs no introduction to the people of the county, as candidate for county surveyor. The people know what Art has done in this line of work and what he has done he can do again. His work has been eminently satisfactory. This has come to be a very important office as land values have so rapidly advanced and the land owners want a man in that office who has shown by his record that he fully understands his business and C.A. Guernsey is such a man. Miss Celeste Donnelly, republican candidate for county superintendent of schools, will very likely not be able to make a very thorough canvass of the county as she is teaching in the Holyoke school and her work in the school room does not permit of her calling on the voters. However she is well and favorably known to the voters of the county as a very successful teacher and a young lady who is in every way well qualified for the important office for which she is a candidate. They will make no mistake by in trusting the interests of the schools of the county to her care and direction for the next two years. L. LeBlanc, the republican candidate for county treasurer, has had experience in the service of the county as an official as he was deputy clerk for one term under S.W. Beggs and in that capacity gave the best of satisfaction to all who had business with that office. Since that time, with the exception of a few years while in business in Nebraska, he has constantly been before the public as one of the leading business men of Holyoke in which he has shown himself to be a careful and conservative business man, courteous and fair in his dealings with all. His business experience has well fitted him for the duties of county treasurer and the voters will make no mistake by entrusting him with that office for the next two years. J.A. Berg, the republican candidate for assessor, has had a business and official experience that has given him a preparation for the satisfactory performance of the duties of assessor that but comparatively few candidates for that office are permitted to enjoy. He has for years been engaged in farming and the extensive handling of stock and in addition to the experience in placing values on property that his business gave him, he has had four years experience on the county board of tax equalization which has given him an intimate acquaintance with the property in the county. In selecting an assessor the tax payers want a man who knows the correct value of property and they will make no mistake in trusting Mr. Berg with the office.
