Painter, Editor and Publisher 18 Sep 1908, Friday, Vol. 22 - No. 8 Page One Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cramer and Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Show attended the county fair at Julesburg this week. Rev. G.A. Spence and family left Holyoke Wednesday for Lyons to which point he was assigned for the coming year by the annual conference. TO MY PATRONS After an absence of some weeks studying and attending the National Osteopathic convention, I am again at my office better prepared to do my work and shall be glad to be of all the service I can to those needing me. -- Dr. Ina Patterson NOTICE Some parties have recently been making the school grounds a loafing place in the evenings and have been making themselves altogether too free with the school property. If there is any further interference with school property, the parties so interfering will be dealt with under the town ordinances -- School Board. BURNS - ROGERS At the home of the bride’s parents near Amherst, this county, on Wednesday September 16, 1908, Rev. G.A. Spence of Holyoke officiating, Roy S. Burns and Miss Pauline Rogers, both of this county, were united in marriage. A goodly number of relatives and friends were present and, after the wedding ceremony partook of a temping wedding dinner. These young people are well and favorably known to a large acquaintance in this part of the county. Roy Burns is a son of Mrs. and Mrs. E.S. Burns of Holyoke and is one of the enterprising young farmers of the county and is highly spoken of by all who know him. The bride, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Rogers of this county, is a bright, intelligent young lady and has a host of friends in the county. The young couple will make their home in the county. The Herald extends best wishes. Alex Sederburg has resigned as janitor of the court house and has accepted a position as salesman in the store of LeBlanc & Scheunemann. Isaac Grayem has been employed as janitor to fill vacancy. Rev. G.L. Rulison, who was assigned by the annual Methodist conference to the Holyoke pastorage, writes that he expects to be in Holyoke to conduct the preaching services next Sunday. He comes from Chicago and this is his first connection with the work in Colorado. GOLDEN WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Costellaw celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding on Wednesday of this week at their home in Holyoke. This worthy couple, formerly of Clarinda, Iowa have resided in our town for the past two years and have in that short time made many friends. There were present their daughters and families, Mrs. F.H. Wilder of Bridgeport, Nebraska, Mrs. W.W. Moomey of Mason City, Nebraska and Mrs. Charles Harris and Mrs. W.E. Correll of Holyoke. Only the relatives were present and a very enjoyable occasion is reported The Herald wishes many returns of their wedding anniversary. Page Four Miss Maude Kelly visited the Denver exposition last week. Harry Elliott of the Haxtun country was in Holyoke Monday. Mrs. J.W. Young returned Monday from a visit in Pueblo. M.D. Copp is building a barn on his residence lots in Holyoke. S.S. and Elmer Worley attended the state fair at Pueblo this week. J.W. Webermeier of this county left Monday for a visit in Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs. M.V. Summers returned Saturday from a visit in Missouri. Mrs. Mary Hethcote of Holdrege, Nebraska is visiting her son, J.M., of Holyoke. Roy Chaney, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Gray and Mrs. Claud Lay of Haxtun were in Holyoke Tuesday. D.H. Freeman of Denver arrived in Holyoke Thursday to look after his property interests. Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Patrick and daughter, Miss Fay, returned Saturday from the exposition at Denver. Hon. O.C. Zingg of Greeley came down to Holyoke the first of the week to look after land interests in this county. J.W. Snoddy and wife of Bloomfield, Iowa, who had been visiting their son, Bert of this county, left for their home Monday. Miss Fay Clark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Clark, formerly of Holyoke, now residing at Arapahoe, Nebraska is visiting friends in Holyoke this week. Roy E. Howser, wife and child from Chicago arrived in Holyoke last Friday and will make their home in Holyoke. Mr. Howser has for several years been practicing law in Chicago and has come to Holyoke to engage in the practice of his profession. By those who know him he is spoken of as a young man of good standing in his profession and worthy of the confidence of those having business with him.
