Hughes, 82, who passed away May 18, at Melissa Memorial Hospital, Holyoke. Rev. Clyde Vandegrift officiated at the services. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Thompson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Victor N. Hughes was born April 10, 1889 in Sutton, West Virginia. He was the oldest of 12 children. He moved with his family to Imperial, Nebraska in February 1904. At the age of 21, Victor homesteaded a ranch four miles north of what was then called Alvin. This was his home for 36 years. He was united in marriage to Nellie F. Forbes in 1919 and they moved to Holyoke in 1946 due to his poor health. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall L. and Lydia Hughes; three brothers, Earl Milton, Herbert Wheaton and Grant. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Trulie E. Hattaway, Kansas City, Missouri and Nellie M. Harding, Holyoke; two brothers, Sheridan, Yakama, Washington and Hobart, Nampa, Idaho; five sisters, Mary Sheldon, Holyoke, Bertie Edwards, Olive Older, Rutia Traxler and Ocie Bromagen, Nampa, Idaho, and Elsie Sheldon, Lindsay, California, and many other relatives and friends.
