Hicklin Cemetery, Pueblo County Colorado

This is a correction to the Hicklin Cemetery in Pueblo County. 

The Hicklin Cemetery is not under I-25 as stated on the website. The original 
graveyard was located under what is now Bent Brothers Blvd. in Colorado City. 
In 1963, planners of the Colorado City Development Company officially moved 
the graves. Seven bodies were exhumed: 

  Alexander Hicklin (died 1873) 
  Talman Hicklin (brother of Alexander Hicklin who died in 1873) 
  Alexander Hicklin Jr. (son of Alexander Hicklin who died in 1878) 
  Remains of "more than one child" (presumably the twin daughters of Thomas Hicklin, son of Alexander Hicklin) 
  Unidentified man (presumed to be Thomas Hicklin, son of Alexander Hicklin who died in about 1898) 
  Unidentified man (presumed to be John Hicklin, brohter of Alexander Hicklin) 

Also said to be buried at the Hicklin graveyard were pioneers John Frink, 
Sara Jane Sears and drifter Ed Tomer. However, their bodies were not exhumed. 

The graves were moved to the as yet undeveloped Hicklin Memorial Park. Today they are 
located in a field visible from Valverde Road, along a row of trees near the ballpark. 
You must park and walk roughly 50 yards to the graves. Alexander Hicklin Sr.'s tombstone 
was broken the last time I was there; the tombstone was at one time repaired by author 
Ralph Taylor. There is an additional, contemporary tombstone there as well. I can't 
remember the name and no one seems to know how or why the tombstone is there.
