Cole states: "At the time of his death Mr. Cole had sold his fine ranch and stock interests on Piceance and had made arrangements to go into business at Cripple Creek in the early summer. He left his family in good circumstances.Obitem further describes Masonic and Episcopal rites with burial in HIGHLAND CEMETERY-Meeker. The 11 Sep 1917 Meeker HERALD obituary for his wife, Anna I. Cole Reads "Death of Mrs Anna Cole—After an illness which had lasted for Several months,“Auntie” Cole, as she was affectionately known among hosts Of friends and pioneers,past away last Saturday morning at the home of her Son Albert, in lower Powell Park. The funeral was held from the Park residence Sunday afternoon, Rev. Father Fajanelle coming from Rifle to conduct the services. Pioneers Henry Hay, Thomas Kilduff, H. S. Harp, R. H. Crawford E. J. Wilson, and J. L. Tagert acted as pallbearers. Deceased leaves to mourn her Passing, her sons Albert and Edgar, and daughter Mrs. Tillotsen, and all who knew her during over thirty years residence in White River country. Parkes whose Death Notice in Meeker HERALD 3 Jul 1915 cites “The Glenwood papers announce the death Of Mrs. Jane S. Parkes, (mother of the Parkes boys, formerly of Black Sulphur Creek, which occurred at that place last week. The remains were brought to Piceance and laid beside the husband that departed this life many years ago. Deceased was well known and highly esteemed by all the old time settlers in upper Piceance region. Parkes, Miss Polly, 6 Feb 1911 Died at the residence of the Parkes Brothers on Black Sulphur Creek. Is probably here but not marked. There is NO marker at Black Sulphur Cemetery, and whether she is a sister or child of the Parkes Brothers is unknown.
