Goff an old and respected citizen of this community passed to his reward, the immidate cause of death being kidney disease. He had been quite ill for several weeks and the immediate members of the family had been summoned and were all present at the end. Mr. Goff was 77 years, 2 months and 25 days of age. He was born in Owens county Kentucky and when 4 years of age his parents removed to Indiana. While yet a young man he removed to Kansas and in 1889 moved into the White River Valley and has resided in Meeker ever since. He was a wagon maker and carpenter by trade, and a splended mechanic. He served one term on the board of trustees, and was held in universal esteem by all who knew him. He was a man of exemplary habits and no person ever herd him utter an oath. He was an enthusiastic Odd Fellow, and had been a member of the order for fifty seven years. The services were held at the house under the auspices of the Odd Fellows, under defience to his oft-repeatd request. Deceased is survived by his wife, W.H. Goff of Rangely, Mrs. Bertha Ralston of Meeker, Joseph Goff of Salt Lake, John B. Goff of Cody Wyoming, Mrs. Celia Burns, Homer and Andrew Goff. The five sons and two daughters were all present at the funeral, besides five grand children and five great grand children. This is part of the obituary which was published in the White River Review, Meeker, Rio Blanco Co., Saturday 16 July, 1910 The following are my notes: On 21 Feb. 1885, Byron married Francis N. Daugherty in Montgomery Co., IN. Francis was b: 24 Nov. 1834 in Little Glady, Greene, OH. She was the daughter of James and Mary Ann (Cramer) Daugherty. Byron and Francis were married for 55 years and were the parents of eight children. Byron Fisher Goff is buried in Highland Cemetery, Meeker. There is no marker on his grave.
