Joe Ralston has been a continuous resident of this community for nearly forty years. Up until his health broke some years ago he was engaged in the horse raising business in the Powell Park region. For over a quarter of a centuary he was rated the most powerful man physically in the White River Valley; was of genial disposition and was never known to have a quarrel with any one. Deceased was born in Ohio, February 1, 1840, so was in his eighty third year when death came. He served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Is survived by his wife, and sons Clarence and Clyde and two daughters Mrs. Ed Jones and Mrs. George Lestor. The following are my notes: Joseph was born in Richland County, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph Ralston and Mary Moore. He married Bertha Ann Goff 16 May 1879 in Johnson Co., KS. He died in Meeker, Rio Blanco, Co., Colorado and is buried in Highland Cemetery, Meeker. His obituary was published in the Meeker Herald March 17, 1923.
