Lambert Maynard R. (Tuff) Lambert was born July 24, 1916 in Mancos, Colo. and died on Oct 27, 1995 on Cochetopa Pass while elk hunting with his son-in-law Claude Maez. He was 79. He was preceded in death by his wife Marion by forty days, his parents William J and Mamie Lambert, brothers: Fred, Ralph, Bill, Johnny and Rueben; sisters: Laura Mackey and Ada Lambert, also two grandchildren. Survivors include daughters: Opal Warr of Durango, Joyce (John) McFarland, of Hooper and Kathy (Claude) Maez, Saguache; brothers: Walt, Ken and Donald (Jiggs) all of Saguache; sisters: Jean Moody of Saguache, Lucille (Toots) Love of Salida, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A mill operator, Mr. Lambert belonged to the VFW and NRA. He was a veteran of World War II and loved hunting and fishing and being in the mountains. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov 1st at 2 p.m. at the Community Building in Saguache with Rev. Milton Jones officiating. The family chose cremation. The family would like to thank the Saguache Ambulance crew and Baptist Ladies, Judy Collins, Jean Hansen, Milton Jones, Fred and Ruben Lambert and Nathan Highline. Also special thanks to Buck and Ellen Moores, Ed and Anne Nielsen for everything they did for us.
