Legal Description (from GLO record): The Town of Crestone obtained the 
property from the government on November 23, 1911.  They were burying 
people out there before that, but apparently didn't officially acquire 
the land until then.  The legal description is NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 
of Section 12, T43N, R11E, New Mexico Prime Meridian.

	This is a partial list of the burials in the Crestone Cemetery. The 
information was transcribed from gravestones over the course of two visits in 
August 2000.  Many of the graves in this cemetery do not have headstones with 
writing on them. Quite a few graves are hardly marked at all. This list was
checked on a third visit to the cemetery, but if you find any errors, please 
send corrections in an email to Eli Kutzko at ekutzko@yahoo.com. 

	The list is in alphabetical order with the exception of wives being listed 
with their husbands if they shared a tombstone.  Marriage dates have been included 
if written on the stone. A "(?)" after a date indicates that the stone was difficult 
to read, and the date as transcribed is questionable.

	The Crestone Cemetery is west/northwest of the Town of Crestone.  Drive west 
from the center of Crestone on Galena Avenue (old main street).  One quarter of a 
mile past the town limits, the road curves to the right (north). Take this curve 
and continue north for one quarter of a mile to the gates of the cemetery.  The 
cemetery takes up the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Sec. 12, T 43 N, R 11 E.
