Obit: Lambert, William J; Saguache Crescent May 1939, Saguache County, Colorado http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/saguache/obits/l5160452.txt Donated by Kathy Maez 24 November 2000 Saguache Crescent Saguache - May 1939 William Joseph Lambert William Joseph Lambert was born in Cadott, WI. Feb. 12, 1883 and died at Monte Vista Hosp. on May 7, 1939 after a short illness. He was the son of William H. and Jeanette Lambert. He came to Colorado with his parents in the fall of 1900, moved to Breckenridge, CO. From there to Cherry Creek forty-five miles from Denver. In this country he grew to manhood becoming a partner with his father and brothers in the saw mill business. The partners took up homesteads around Mancos, CO. In 1905. In 1906 He was united in married to Mamie A. Skinner and to this union thirteen children were born, nine boys and four girls. Ralph, Jeanette, William, Laura, Fredrick, Maynard, Walter, Kenneth, Donald, Lucille and Rueben all survive him. And John and Ada proceeded him in death in 1924 and 1926. In 1929 he moved to Saguache where he lived until his death. He was a devoted husband and father and loved by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, two married daughters Mrs. Frank Jones of Pagosa Springs, and Mrs. Emmett Mackey of Tiffany, CO.: Two married sons William and Ralph both of Saguache nine grandchildren and two elder brothers John and Harry of Saguache and one half brother Clarence Croft on Labarge, Wyoming. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Buckley Chapel with Rev. G.W. Ellis officiating the Misses Mildred Katz and Evelyn Smith sang for the services.
