ESTABLISHED 1871 JAMES JR. IVES, MANAGER 1911 ================================================= Silverton. County seat of San Juan county, is situated nearly in the center of the famous San Juan country, at an altitude of 9,200 feet, and is the mining, smelting and distributing point for a large section of country. To men seeking mining investments, and others with capital, this district offers inducements second to no mining camp in the West. In 1872 the first discoveries and locations were made, and during the years that have intervened many millions of dollars of the precious metals have been dug out Leases and properties can be bought here that will yield a thousand fold to careful investors. Silverton is reached by the D. & R. G. R. R. and the Silverton Railroad. Excellent school; three churches; good hotel accommodations; a bottling works; lumberyard, two weekly newspapers, four railroads—in fact, all lines of business are well represented, doing a safe and profitable trade, but we want men with capital to open up and develop what is destined to be one of the richest gold camps in the United States.
