For some months Mr. O'Malley had been in poor health and while his friends expected his death at most any moment, still when the news came that Mr. O'Malley had died, it was accompanied by sorrow and grief in the community by those who had the good fortune to call him their friend or who wwere fortunate to be numbered among his acquaintance. Mr. O'Malley was born in the year 1854, at bingham, N. Y. He came to Colorado in the early eighties and settled in Walsenberg, Colorado. In the year 1900 Mr. and Mrs. O'Malley and son Edward moved to Silverton, where they established their home and have resided every since. In Huerfano county, Mr. O'Malley was sheriff for twelve years. His record in that office for fair dealings to his fellow man gained him the re-election to sheriff during the years he cared to succeed himself as a county officer. In this community our departed friend was most highly respected and admired. He was one of those jolly men that saw the sunnyside of everyday matters and helped boost his companions by his disposition which was always pleasant and never wanting in time of troubles or worry. He was a just friend to every man. By his death there are left to mourn a wife and one son Edward O'Malley, a young business man of this city. The funeral of the late Mr. O'Malley was held Wednesday afternoon at the Masonic hall. The deceased being a member of the Masons, W. O. W. and Elks, the funeral was in charge of the Masons, the Woodmen attending the services in a body. To those left to mourn his death the STANDARD with friends extends heartfelt sympathy.
