Death was due to senile decay. Deceased had been an inmate of the hospital for the past couple years. William Webb was born in Cornwall, England, about 76 years ago. He came to America while quite young, settling with his parents in Virginia, where the family resided until after the Civil War, when they moved to Wisconsin. From Wisconsin Mr. Webb came to Colorado about 1866. He spent a number of years in the Gilpin and Clear Creek mining districts, and came to the San Juan section about 1881. He was first employed at the old Pandora Mine, later he spent a short time in the coal mines near Canon City and then went to a ranch he owned in the White River section. He returned to the Telluride District about 20 years ago and engaged in leasing the Smuggler Mine, where he is believed to have made considerable of a stake, which kept him for a time during his declining years. For the past 10 years he had been unable to work owing to his physical condition, and for the past two years had been an inmate of the hospital. So far as can be learned he is survived by a sister, whom it is believed resides in Wisconsin, and a niece residing in Virginia. Mr. Webb was twice married, both wives preceding him in death. He was a good, wholesouled individual of the old school of early westerners, always kindly and with a heart as big as all the outdoors. He has a host of friends in Telluride and vicinity who will mourn his passing. The remains were taken in charge by the San Juan undertakers and will be held until an effort can be made to locate his realitives.
