Mt Pisqah Cemetery (A-K), Cripple Creek, Teller County, Colorado http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/teller/cemeteries/mtpsgha.txt Contributed by Mary E Stanley for the USGenWeb Tombstone Transcription Project. Updated September 21, 2000 This file contains only the "A-K" tombstone/cemetery record transcriptions. The rest of the headstones can be found at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/teller/cemeteries/mtpsghl.txt -------------------------------------- Abbreviations (also see notes) A-F = Unsurveyed Area G = Surveyed Area, Numbered Grids ELK = Benevolent Protective Order of Elks' Plot FOE = Fraternal Order of Eagles' Plot M = Marked Grave # MAS = Masons' Plot RED = Improved Order of Redmen Plot US = Unsurveyed Area VET = Grand Army of the Republic Plot ------------------------------------ Notes on cemetery location codes: 1) The original Cripple Creek GAR Cemetery was closed in the 1930s when gold was discovered at the site. The veteran's remains were moved to Mt Pisgah. In the move many of the original markers were lost. These graves are the "unknown soldiers" on the list. 2) In 1994 a detailed survey of the cemetery was started. Only half of the cemetery was completed with grids G1-G25 established. The back half of the cemetery was divided into "unsurveyed areas" designated US/A - US/F to help locate grave sites. These are the location codes that appear after each name in the following list. 3) Each of the towns fraternal societies have a separate area in the cemetery. Some grave sites on the list are therefore coded by organization designating a cemetery location. To prepare for a visit, contact the City of Cripple Creek (719) 689-3588 for a cemetery map. ------------------------------------------- ____________, Frank G7/M116 illegible (wooden marker, painted white with almost invisible black letters; enclosed in wrought-iron fence with Dunns, O'Brien & Collom) ____________, Baby Will June - Sept. 1979 family name unknown (wooden market inside wooden frame; small teddy bear, wooden blocks, wooden train inside frame) ____________, Frank US/E 14 Sept. 1894 - 29 1894 "Our Darling Frank" (Anderson?) Awake! Said the voices of the angels bright. Awake! Said the sunshine, and creep to the light. My beloved Jay arose in glory to see what the beautiful outside world might be. If I get to heaven and you're not there, I'll carve your name in the golden chair, and if you're not there on Judgement Day, I'll know you found another way. I'll give the angels back their wings, golden harps and all other things. And because of all my love for you, I will come to be where you are too. There's just one more thing I must add, because of your absence my heart is so sad. Not a finer man shall ever walk my way as you did with all your charm that day. You're loved and missed by everyones [sic] path you crossed, everyone that knew and loved you are truly lost.
