Shockey are rejoicing over the advent of a Mr. Shockey, Jr., who weighs fourteen pounds. Jan 28, 1898: Altman: Born: To the wife of John McCarthy, a son. Feb 5, 1898: Altman: Born – To the wife of Emanuel Mitterer, a son. Feb 8, 1898: Little Miss MacDonald. – A Visitor Who Will Remain Permanently With the Mill Manager. – When you see a man with a face wreathed in smiles, you will now it is John Q. MacDonald, the general manager of the Brodie mill. If you want to know the reason, it is because he is the father of an eight and one half-pound girl. Miss MacDonald is a sweet little lady in perfect health. Mr. MacDonald says she is the prettiest little girl in the world. Feb 13, 1898: Born. – To Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wehrmann, an eight-pound boy. Mother and son are doing well. Mar 9, 1898: Victor: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Query became the proud parents of a son last Sunday night. Mar 10, 1898: Elkton: A very delightful affair was given last evening in the hall by Miss Cora Squiers, the occasion being her fifteenth birthday and she was celebrating it with a most enjoyable hop. Those fortunate enough to be included are loud in their praises of one of the long to be remembered affairs of the season, and many were the compliments passed upon the cordial hospitality of the charming hostess. Mar 23, 1898: Born – To the wife of Homer Pfeiffer, a 10-pound girl, Monday night; all doing nicely. Born – To the wife of E.S. Payton, 145 Pike’s Peak avenue, Sunday, a girl. Mar 30, 1898: Little Miss Corbin. – The home of Herbert Corbin, the popular dry goods merchant of victor, was made happy on Monday by the arrival of a bright girl baby. Mrs. Corbin and the little one are progressing nicely. Apr 1, 1898: Altman: Born – To the wife of John Welch, of Goldfield, a son, on last Tuesday. May 1, 1898: My mamma wants to know if your mamma will let you come to my birthday party on Saturday afternoon, April 30th, from two until five o’clock. Gertrude Moehlenpah. 1893-1898 The above invitation gladdened the hearts of about twenty lads and lassies last week, and it is needless to say that it brought forth as many acceptances. The little hostess, in a quaint gown of bebe blue, received her guests at the door. The hours were all too short for the pleasure which had been provided. The first prt of the afternoon was spent in endeavoring to pin a tail on a tailess donkey. A magic lantern also furnished much amusement. Perhaps the most enjoyable part of the afternoon was when the children were bidden to come to the table, which was loaded with things dear to the heart of a child. The center of the table was graced with a huge Jack-Horner cake which contained gifts for the little folks. Those present were Fred Moore, Louise Nevins, Mary Lang, Edith Elliott, Vandine Hewbert, Cecil Lampman, Dorothy Hereford, Wright Raine, Freddie Raine, Gladys Smith, Heath Lawton Willie Searies, Raymond Low, Charlie Patch, Charles Hoag, Melvin Befbower, Myrtle Brown and Margery Malins. May 4, 1898: Born. – On May 1, to Mr. and Mrs. C. Swaile, a daughter. May 17, 1898: Bright Baby Girl. – Mr. E.E. Amon, of 211 Whalen avenue, is one of the proudest men in the city this morning. The occasion of his importance is the arrival last night at his home of a big daughter, weighing no less than 14 pounds. May 24, 1898: Victor: The home of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Gilmer was made happy yesterday by the arrival of a baby girl. All are doing nicely. May 28, 1898: He Has A Boy. – E.L. Bowdish was the tickledest man in town last night. His wife made him a present of a fine boy, nine pounds avoirdupois. Mother and child are doing well. (See Death Notice on May 29, 1898) June 3, 1898: Victor: A.F. Snyder writes Victor friends from Deadwood, Dakota, that a charming girl baby arrived at his home on Decoration Day. Mother and daughter are doing well. Jun 11, 1898: Has A Big Son. – Mrs. Will Davis last night presented her husband with a son who tips the scales at 16 pounds. Jun 26, 1898: The friends of Miss Mary Cronin gathered at her home 329 East Eaton Friday, it being the 10th anniversary of her birthday. There were many presents and after games and other diversions Miss Cronin sat her guests to a bountiful feast. Among the guests present were: Misses Louise Hills, Leo Hills, Agnes Hills, Edna Hills, Minnie Levy, Lillie Levy, Vera Knutzen, Margaret Knutzen, Polly Selix, Mindell Selix and Mildred Boone, Carl Whitney, Margaret and Esther Cronin. The little folks enjoyed themselves to the utmost and departed in the evening with many wishes for the happiness of the hostess. Jul 24, 1898: A Ten-Pound Boy. – Mrs. R.M. Elliott, wife of the teller of the First National bank of this city, has presented her husband with a fine ten-pound boy and Mr. Elliott says he’s the finest boy in the city. Jul 28, 1898 J.M. Slusher returned to the city yesterday from a visit to Carthage, Ill., wearing a broad grin. He is proud of being the father of a 9-pound girl born in Carthage on the 24th inst. Mother and daughter are doing well. Jul 29, 1898: A Pretty Baby Boy. – Was born yesterday to Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hasen. Jul 31, 1898: Miss Adeline Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Laban Edward Smith, invited eighteen little lads and lassies to help her celebrate her eight birthday on Friday last. It is needless to say that the invitations were all gladly accepted. The little miss received presents without number. There was a grand march, then all sorts of games were played. The hostess is a very talented little lady and she pleased her friends by several selections which she sang. A very lovely luncheon was served after which the children departed with a great many good wishes for all of Miss Adeline’s future birthdays. Aug 5, 1898: Has a Daughter. – J.W. Holahan’s wife has presented him with a beautiful little miss weighing ten pounds. Both mother and daughter are doing nicely. John is in the hands of a physician. Aug 6, 1898: Mrs. E.L. Riggs, wife of Sergeant Riggs, of the First Colorado, gave birth to a fine little soldier boy Friday. The young gentleman’s father is now with Captain Howard on his way to the Philippines. Both the mother and the incipient general are doing well. Aug 25, 1898: Born – To Mr. and Mrs. Maney, a 10-pound baby girl. Aug 26, 1898: A Bouncing Boy. – There was born to Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Kaiser yesterday a bouncing baby boy, and immediately on his arrival in this world he was christened Lee Cole Kaiser. This name is in honor of Messrs, (Lee) Hankey and Cole, the mining firm operating on Bull hill and Copper mountain. The gentlemen had quite a celebration last night. Sep 1, 1898: A Pretty Daughter. – A little girl, weighing just eight pounds, came to the home of Photographer E.A. Yelton yesterday, to delight the hearts of father and mother. Mr. Yelton says she is the prettiest little girl in the district. Sep 2, 1898: Mr. and Mrs. Bourcey are rejoicing over the arrival at their home of a baby girl, weighing 12 pounds. Sep 9, 1898: Altman: Miss Laura Scarborough celebrated her 18th birthday last Wednesday. She received some valuable presents. Sep 15, 1898: Victor: A child was born to Mr. and Mrs. T.J. McLaughlin last night. Mother and child are thriving. Sep 20, 1898: Goldfield: Mr. and Mrs. Jackson are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby girl at their home on Independence avenue. The little one opened its eyes on this world at noon yesterday. Sep 24, 1898: Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cullifer are now the proud parents of a girl, born a few days ago, and who already gives evidence of becoming a great orator. Oct 1, 1898: Victor: A child was born to Mrs. Peter Floyd yesterday. It was a girl and weighted 14 pounds. Oct 4, 1898: Has a Girl Baby. – Dr. F.J. Crane was around town yesterday with a tall smile for everybody he met, and a hearty handshake for all. Inquiries as to the cause of his joy brought forth the information that a little girl called at his residence, who will remain there permanently. The baby weighs 12 pounds, is good and healthy, and the doctor says is the best baby in the city. The mother is well and doing nicely. Oct 12, 1898: A Pretty Baby Girl. – One of the happiest men at Midway on Monday, and he is happy still, for that matter, was Ed Doyle, when the doctor informed him that he was the father of a strong, bright, baby girl. The mother is doing nicely, and the daughter will be out signaling for trains to stop within a day or two. Oct 14, 1898: A Baby Girl. – Mr. Frank Wyland of 307 W. golden, is the proud father of a bouncing 12-pound baby girl. He says he wouldn’t take the best mine in the district for the Little one. He was around yesterday afternoon with a box of cigars under his arm, and a broad smile on his face. Mother and child are doing well. Oct 16, 1898: A Birthday Party. – Charlotte Strickland’s fifteenth birthday was celebrated in a very charming way last Friday evening. Miss Charlotte was amusing herself on the piano when someone knocked, and upon responding she found the jolliest crowd of boys and girls she had ever before seen. They received a hearty welcome, and after amusing themselves with games, they indulged in pulling taffy. The young lady received many valuable presents. Those present were: Misses Charlotte Doe, Jessie Braley, Addie Harrison, Jessie Harrison, Emma Manchester, Laura Baltzelie, Jessie Albritton, Mabel Barbee, Pansy Monahan, James Sullivan, Charles Hatfield, Leslie Roberts, George Hatfield, Edward Gilbert, Clarence Siebert and Earl Woodworth. Oct 19, 1898: A Proud Father. – A new voter for the fusion ticket was born yesterday to Mr. and Mrs. Con Hartnett, of 115 W. Warren avenue. It is a twelve-pound boy, and mother and child are doing well. Oct 23, 1898: Victor: Mr. and Mrs. McConnell, of Fifth street, are receiving the congratulations of their many friends over the arrival of a son and heir. Nov 9, 1898: Born. – On election day, a boy, to Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Bassford. Dr. Smith reports mother and boy doing well. Nov 13, 1898: Victor: A baby boy is making “Rome new,” and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Trenchard, correspondingly glad. Nov 15, 1898: Victor: J. Forch, of Forch brothers, is now the happy and proud father of a handsome young girl baby, who arrived at the Forch residence Sunday morning at 8 o’clock. Mrs. Forch and infant are doing splendidly. Nov 16, 1898: Victor: Nicholas Tully has returned from Camp Harding, where he recently went to welcome the advent into the Tully household of a big, fine boy. Nov 20, 1898: A New Boarder. – A bright-eyed baby boy came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard A. Iszard yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock and it received a most cordial welcome. Nov 23, 1898: Bright Little Girl. – Sunday afternoon there came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Granville, at 101 East Eaton avenue, a little daughter whom they will call Dorothy. Father and mother are agreed that there was never a sweeter baby anywhere, so that is settled. Both mother and little one are doing nicely. Nov 25, 1898: Proud Parents. – A Thanksgiving present came to Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Pfeifer of 317 Silver street, in the shape of a ten-pound boy. The lad has been christened Vernon Hereford Pfeifer. Nov 30, 1898: A Happy Man. – Watt Townsley was made a happy man yesterday by a pretty present he received from his wife in the shape of a baby girl. Three Little Girls in Blue. – The homes of N.P. Hobson, James Holmes and O.C. Steele were made brighter yesterday by the arrival at the respective residences of bright baby girls. Dec 4, 1898: Goldfield: Dennis O’Connell was made happy last Saturday by the arrival of a new daughter, of regulation size and weight. both baby and mother are doing well. Dec 16, 1898: Goldfield: Mr. and Mrs. Williams are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby boy. It tipped the beam at 11 ˝ pounds, and medical authority has it that the youngster is the biggest that has yet bobbed up in Goldfield. Dec 20, 1898: Born – To the wife of County Commissioner J. Doran, on Sunday morning, a bouncing baby girl. Mother and child are progressing satisfactorily, and James is correspondingly happy. Dec 22, 1898: He Celebrated. – Walter, the son of Sam W. Vidler, celebrated his seventh birthday yesterday. He had a number of his schoolmates to luncheon and games. Dec 25, 1898: Little Miss Adeline Holloway, the small daughter of Mrs. Edward Laban Smith has invited ten of her little friends to luncheon Thursday afternoon, Dec. 29. The invitations read “Dolls are expected.” Walter, the 7 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Vidler, celebrated his natal day Thursday afternoon by inviting in some of this little playmates. They spent a pleasant afternoon with games and refreshments. Among those present were John and Sam Hawkins of Victor, Leona Ralston, Herbert and Roy Strickland. Nora Donoghue, Juanita French, Olive Waddleton, Master Wilbur and others. Cashier Rollestone, of the Victor bank, declares this Christmas is his brightest and best. Mrs. Rollestone presented him with a bouncing son yesterday, and both mother and child are dong splendidly. Dec 30, 1898: A Proud Daddy. – N. Parker Doe was presented early yesterday morning with a pretty nine-pound boy. Dr. Gaston saw to it that the proud father did not faint. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Aspey, of South Fifth street, were made happy last evening by the arrival of a son. The youth and mother are reported to be doing nicely.
