Aug 20, 1897: Miss Ella McMillan celebrated her twenty-second birthday today. Sep 29, 1897: Yesterday being the 31st birthday anniversary of Mrs. W.M. Irwin, her friends to the number of twenty gathered at her home, 144 Pike’s Peak, and very agreeably surprised her, bringing presents and baskets well filled. Mrs. Irwin’s friends are all glad to know that she has fully recovered form typhoid fever. Oct 3, 1897: The home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Withers was gladdened last Tuesday by the arrival of a baby son. Oct 17, 1897: “Hutch” Is Happy. – Carter Hutchinson, city editor of the Citizen, is happy this morning over the arrival of a nine-pound daughter at his home last night. Those who know “Hutch” and his charming wife, especially the newspaper fraternity extend their warmest congratulations. Oct 30, 1897: Born. – To Mr. and Mrs. B.S. Belzer, yesterday, a boy. Mother and son are doing well. Nov 2, 1897: First In Victor. The first male Hebrew born in this city came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Klein, on Spicer avenue, on October 23. Last evening the child was christened, according to the ancient Jewish rites, at the Klein residence, Rabbi K. Hermann of Denver officiating. Many friends of the family were present to witness the interesting ceremony. Nov 16, 1897: E.W. Pfeiffer, the well known Altman grocer, celebrated his 33rd birthday Sunday night by entertaining fifteen friends with a hospitality that did credit to his Kentucky origin. All sorts of refreshments were served. There was good music by the Bull hill orchestra, composed of Arthur Smith, J.E. Seeley, C.C. Grimes and Jack Woods. Nov 21, 1897: Norville Booth passed his eight milestone last Monday. Fifteen little friends helped to pass it most pleasantly. Numerous games were played which made the time pass very swiftly. Afterwards refreshments, which are always a prominent feature in children’s festivities, were served to them. Those present were Mable and Mary Roberts, Dorothy Smith, Edith Jones, Dorothy Hereford, Mary Lang, Allie Bryan, Leslie Smith, Charlie Patch, John Coughlin and many others.
