Reid rreid21@cox.net April 4, 2008, 8:52 pm Morning Times (Cripple Creek, CO.) 1900 BIRTHS IN THE MORNING TIMES (Cripple Creek, Teller County, CO.) The following birth notices appeared in the Morning Times, Cripple Creek, Teller Co., Colorado during the year of 1900. Some the births may not have occurred in Teller County. The date of publication is shown prior to the item (s). There is no implication that this is all that may have been published in these editions. Jan 6, 1900: Mr. S.N. Simmons is shaking hands with a great many friends while a great smile spreads over his face. It is not a new strike on the Zenobla this time but a 12-pound girl. Dr. Smith reports mother and baby doing well. Jan 13, 1900: An Eight Pound Winner. – Walter Coulson, of the Board of Trade is eight pounds richer this morning than he was when he went on shift yesterday morning and the little winning pleased him so that he kept the wires hot telegraphing to friends and relatives in Denver and Texas. Now a winning of eight pounds, is not much, but the one taking place at 5 o’clock last evening was a healthy 8- pound baby girl presented to him by his wife. Jan 28, 1900: Girl. – A nine-pound girl baby was born yesterday to Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Foresman. Jan 21, 1900: The home of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Frankle was gladdened last week by the arrival of a baby girl. The young lady arrived last Tuesday morning. Jan 28, 1900: A dear little baby boy arrived at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Whiting last Monday. That the parents are proud of him goes without saying and he is already lord of all he surveys. Jan 30, 1900: Boy. – Mr. and Mrs. Billy Mahan are rejoicing over the arrival of a bright boy baby at their home on Eaton avenue. Feb 6, 1900: Twin Girls. – Twin girls came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Priest Sunday evening at about 7 o’clock. Their residence is No. 456 W. Masonic ave. Feb 10, 1900: He Feels Good. – If you heard a shout last night, and stuck your head out of the window in anticipation of seeing a fire, that’s one on you. There was a noise and it was made by a man, but the man was in Denver. It seems that he was married nine years ago, on his wife’s birthday, and yesterday she presented him with a nine-pound boy, and he felt so good that he let out a shout that was heard by his friends in Cripple Creek. The man is Sam D. Gosa, the irrepressible insurance agent for the Northwestern – you all know him, for he has written nearly everybody in camp once, and will do it again. Sam is happy, the mother and child are doing well, and the wires are still burdened with congratulatory telegrams to Denver. Feb 14, 1900: Twin Boys. – Jas. McDonald of Windy is the happy father of twin boys. They were born February 10. Mother and sons doing nicely. Feb 18, 1900: A nine pound girl was born to Mrs. F. Baxter at 121 W. Golden avenue of Friday last. Mother and baby are getting along nicely. Feb 23, 1900: It is a Girl – Pete Anderson, of the firm of Hoof & Anderson, tailors, is happy today at the arrival at his home, 312 Eaton avenue, of a daughter. Having been born on Washington’s birthday, he has already named the miss, Martha Washington Anderson. Mar 3, 1900: Girl. – The wife of H.E. Stone the popular broker, yesterday presented him with a bright and handsome eight-pound girl baby. Mother and daughter are doing well and the new father is exultantly happy. Mar 13, 1900: It’s a Girl. – A 12-pound baby girl arrived at the home of W.L. Price last night and as a consequence the whistle blew at the shaft house of the Black Bells, where Mr. Price is leasing. This is the first child to arrive at this household and Mr. Price is naturally the happiest man in town today. Dr. Crane, who was in attendance, says the youngster is a beauty.
