Some are include simply as clues to residence. There is no implication that this is all that may have been published in these editions. Jan 6, 1898: Mrs. J.T. Barber is in the city from Denver visiting her son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Othello Barber. Jan 23, 1898: Mrs. Clark, mother of Mrs. Maynard Gunsul, fell Thursday morning and she broke two of the bones in her wrist. All wish for her a speedy recovery. Jan 28, 1898: Altman: T.O. Roscoe of St. Louis, a brother of H.O. Roscoe, has arrived here, and will make his home in Altman. Feb 8, 1898: Mrs. Dr. H.A. Sims is lying quite ill at the family residence at Myers avenue and A street. She has had a stroke of apoplexy, and while her condition is slightly improved, she is still very ill. Her son, Whitelaw Sims, of Chicago, Ill., arrived her last evening, and Mrs. Sims’ daughters, one of whom is in Washington D.C., and the other at the old home in Virginia, have been telegraphed and will probably arrive soon. Feb 13, 1898: Return Thanks. – Dr. and Mrs. John W. Smith are happy over the convalescence of their little daughter, Gladys, who is recovering from a severe attack of whooping cough an complicated capillary pneumonia. They wish to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Z.E. Funk for his close attention and professional courtesy to a brother practitioner; also kind thanks to Mrs. Mary Brown and Mrs. W. Mohlenpahl, for their timely assistance. Feb 18, 1898: Elkton. Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Stinette and son, Charlie, left yesterday for a month’s visit with relatives in Missouri. Mar 4, 1898: Mrs. Dr. Heller and little daughter Hazel came up from Pueblo yesterday to visit the husband and father, Dr. Heller, of this city. Alderman A.G. Schaefer of Pueblo is in victor on a visit to his brother, C.W. Wagoner. Mar 10, 1898: Mrs. Gertrude Anderson, wife of A.W. Anderson of Cripple Creek, has arrived from Denver and will make her home for the present at the Kelley hotel. Mar 11, 1898: Dr. and Mrs. T.G. Horn of Colorado Springs are expected today to be the guests of their daughter, Mrs. Irving Lacy. Mrs. Robert Milliken of Denver is visiting her son, Mr. W. B. Milliken. Miss Pearl Owens, from Kansas, is visiting her sister, Mrs. V.G. Hills. Mar 17, 1898: Altman: Mrs. L. Bremire, accompanied by her sister-in-law, Mrs. R. St. Clair, departed for Florence yesterday, where they will remain for some time for the benefit of Mrs. Bremire’s health. Mar 20, 1898: Mrs. Frank Dane French is entertaining her mother, Mrs. Mary Walthers, of Denver. Mar 27, 1898: Miss Mildred Roberts is the guest of her cousin, Miss Grace Roberts. Mrs. William Grier is enjoying a visit from her mother, Mrs. Stewart of Denver. Apr 17, 1898: Mrs. A. Burgess with her daughters, Edna and Nellie, and son Robert, of Louisville, Ky., are visiting Mrs. Alfred Lambert of Capital hill. Apr 22, 1898: Victor: Mrs. J.H. Myers and daughter Babe are visiting in Denver. May 7, 1898: Victor: Mrs. J.H. Myers and daughter, Lottie, returned Thursday afternoon from a visit of several weeks in Denver. May 8, 1898: Mr. and Mrs. E. Miller and little daughter Laura accompanied by Miss Maude Levens, left for Pueblo yesterday on a visit of several weeks. Miss Skinner, who spent the winter here as the guest of her sister, Mrs. Allen, left last Monday for Denver, where she will visit a few weeks prior to her departure for her home in Illinois. May 13, 1898: Miss May Luckett of Mt. Adams, Ark., is in the city on a visit to her uncle, George Gill, of the Wonder, Miss Luckett will spend the summer here. May 15, 1898: Mrs. Dr. H.A. Sims, who had almost entirely recovered from a stroke of paralysis, has had a second attack, and is now quite seriously ill at the family residence at A street and Myers avenue. Her son, Dr. Whitelaw Sims, who was in Chicago taking a post graduate course in surgery, has arrived to attend her. Her daughter, Mrs. Bowdre, arrived yesterday from the old home in Virginia, and the youngest daughter, Miss Anna, who is now visiting in Shelby, N.C., will start for Cripple Creek at once, an will arrive in a few days. May 19, 1898: Mrs. W.H. Langstaff and daughters, Misses Nena and Laura, came up from Cripple Creek yesterday on a visit to their father. May 22, 1898: Miss Nevins who has spent the winter in the camp the guest of her brother, R.R. Nevins, has returned to her home in New York. Mrs. Charles W. Howbert and little son, Van Dyne, are spending a few weeks in Colorado Springs. May 29, 1898: Mr. L.S. Baumgardner a prominent resident of Toledo, is looking after his mining interests here. He is visiting his nephew, Mr. Fred Berbower. Jun 5, 1898: Mr. and Mrs. T.R. Burbridge are expecting their daughter, Mrs. Binyon of Fort Worth to visit them. Mrs. Fred Coe, of Denver, spent last week here as the guest of her sister. Mrs. R.A. Patch. Jun 12, 1898: Mrs. Binyon of Fort Worth arrived here Tuesday. She will spend the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.B. Burbridge. Jun 14, 1898: Charley Brown of Atchinson, Kan., is visiting his cousins, the Misses O’Leary. at 313 South Third street. Jun 16, 1898: Miss Grace Boland, daughter of J.H. Boland, returned yesterday after a year’s absence, attending the normal school at Cedar Falls, Ia. Victor: John D. Cameron of Nova Scotia, is visiting his brother, K. Cameron, of Victor. June 16, 1898: W.A. White, editor and proprietor of the Emporia Gazette, came in today to visit his wife, who is an invalid and is spending the summer with her cousin, Mrs. F.E. Boynton. Jun 17, 1898: Mrs. Hands and her two children, of Kansas City, arrived in the city yesterday on a visit to her mother, Mrs. Judge Vanatta. Jun 18, 1898: Peter Beckman of Avery, Ia., is the guest of his brother, J.A. Beckman. Jun 19, 1898: Mrs. Richardson, of Denver, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Frank D. French. Jun 23, 1898: Mrs. Mary Ellingson is visiting her brother, A.J. Ellison. She is from Severy, Kan. She will remain a week or so. Mrs. Alicia McErianer and baby, of Stockton, Cala., niece of John G. Bernard, arrived last week and will spend the summer with her uncle. She will be at home at 411 Warren avenue. Jun 26, 1898: Miss Louise Carman and Mr. Lawrence Carman of Chicago, are visiting their brother, J.S. Carman, of 117 West Eaton avenue. Mrs. Howard Seeds and son Willie left last week for a three months’ visit with friends and relatives in Abilene, Kan. Jun 30, 1898: Mrs. Dorothea Barth, of Willis, Tex., is the guest of her sister, Mrs. A. Voretter, of Independence. Mrs. Barth will remain during the summer. Jul 2, 1898: Miss Mary Leonard, who has visiting her sister, Mrs. Sweet, has returned to her home in Denver. Jul 10, 1898: Mrs. Edward Atwell is entertaining her cousin, Mrs. Shepherd, of Kansas City. Jul 16, 1898: Dr. F.A. Pruett, of Olney, Ill., is in the city on a visit to his brother, W.E. Pruett. Jul 17, 1898: Victor: Mrs. Walther, who has spent the last few months with her daughter, Mrs. frank Dane French, returned to her home in Denver last Sunday. Mrs. Merritt Tilney is entertaining her mother, Mrs. J.M. Dilley, of Atlantic, Iowa. Mrs. Colner and daughter of Illinois, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Girard. Jul 28, 1898: W.C. Leach has returned to camp to remain indefinitely. He came up yesterday accompanied by his brother, Mr. T.C. Leach and wife, and his sister, Miss Martha Leach. The party will leave today for San Francisco and the coast cities, for an extended trip. “Billy” will give his attention to mining once more. Aug 2, 1898: Miss Cylda Moses of Pueblo, a niece of Major Cassius M. Moses, is a guest of Mrs. J. Knox Burton. Aug 3, 1898: Mrs. Lancaster, sister of Mrs. Ed McDaniel, is on a visit in Cripple Creek. Mr. Lancaster is an Illinois merchant. (Transcriber’s Note: Mrs. Lancaster, is Susan nee Mobely and this is her second marriage to Lafayette Lancaster. She first married Eugene McDaniel, the younger brother of the Cripple Creek police chief, Edgar McDaniel.) Aug 12, 1898: Miss Annie Beatty, sister of Wire chief Beatty of the Western Union Telegraph company, Denver, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Lundstrum, of Cripple Creek. Aug 18, 1898: Miss Ivy L. Matteson will return to her home in Denver this afternoon after a visit of two weeks with her brother, Lynn B. Matteson, the real estate agent. This has been Miss Matteson’s first visit to the camp, and she carries away with her a sort of affection for the mountain mining camp with its glorious climate and novel scenes. Miss Matteson will stop for a few days in Colorado Springs. Aug 19, 1898: Mrs. E.C. Tilley, of St. Joseph, Mo., is visiting with her brother, E.G. Meadows. Aug 20, 1898: James Hargus of San Francisco, is visiting his sister, Mrs. W.T. Childs. Aug 21, 1898: Miss Madeline Duncan, the sister-in-law of Dr. A.C. Magruder, is paying a visit to Cripple Creek. Aug 26, 1898: Mr. Morton Pike and his sister, Miss Pike, of Indianapolis, are visiting their sister, Mrs. White, of the White-Martin Undertaking Co. Aug 27, 1898: Mrs. E.A. Dunn, sister of Mrs. J.S. Fritz, accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Pearl Anderson of Pueblo, are visiting in this city. Aug 28, 1898: Mrs. Z. Felder returned to her home at Lake City last Wednesday evening after spending a very pleasant visit of three months with her parent on Golden avenue. She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Mollie O’Bryan. Miss Mollie E. O’Bryan left last Wednesday, evening for a month’s vacation at Lake City, visiting her sister, Mrs. Z. Felder. R.W. Butler is a guest of his sister, Mrs. R.S. Tarbell, for a few days. Sep 3, 1898: Miss Kate Cree, sister of Mrs. T.C. Keating, who has been visiting here during the past six weeks, has left for her home in Webster City, Ia. Miss Lucy Butler of Denver is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Winfield S. Tarbell. Sep 18, 1898: Mr. Fred Crosley is enjoying a visit from his sister, Miss Eva Crosley of Denver. Mrs. E.E. Martin is enjoying a visit from here daughter, Mrs. Pier. Mr. and Mrs. P.W. Webster, and Miss Florence Fletcher, daughter of Donald Fletcher, who is well known here, are stopping at National while on a short visit to the camp. Sep 22, 1898: Mrs. Alicia McErians of Stockton, Cal., who has been here on a visit for the past three months, to her uncle, J.G. Bernard, left yesterday for her home. Sep 25, 1898: Mrs. Thomas Dexter Reynolds gave a charmingly appointed dinner last week in honor of her brother, Mr. Sawyer, who has been her guest. Her guests included Mr. and Mrs. Gunsel, Mr. and Mrs. Berbower and Master Melvin Berbower. Sep 28, 1898: Wants A Divorce. – Colorado Springs, Sept. 27. – Otto Lenze today filed an application in the district court for a divorce form his wife, Lucy Lenze. Cruelty, drunkenness and adultery are charged. Miss Mollie E. O’Bryan has arrived home after spending an enjoyable month’s vacation at the home of her sister, Mrs. Zeno Felder, at Lake City, Colo. Among the many pastimes indulged by Miss O’Bryan were trout fishing, hunting, boating and jack riding over the hills of Hinsdale county. Sep 29, 1898: Altman: Charles Garvey of San Francisco, on his way to South Dakota, stopped over to visit his sister, Mrs. J.B. Neville. Altman: F.E. Scarborough and his daughter, Miss Laura, were invited to a party at the home of the Mesdames Irene and S. Henney on North Fourth street, Victor. Oct 1, 1898: Mrs. H. Corbin was called yesterday to the Springs owing to the serious illness of her father, Dr. McNair. Oct 2, 1898: Victor: Miss Nettie Crawford of Boston, Mass., who has been visiting her brother in Leadville, has returned to Victor, where she will spend the winter with her sister, Mrs. James McConaghy. Oct 6, 1898: Wants a Divorce. – Colorado Springs, Oct. 5. – Lydia A. McMurtrie filed a suit in the district court today for alimony and separate maintenance against T.A. McMurtrie, her husband. The couple were married January 15, 1871, in Illinois, and are the parents of five children. Their home is at Anaconda. Extreme cruelty and non-support is alleged as the ground for action. Oct 15, 1898: Altman: Mrs. Mary Payne, sister of Edward Hawkes, arrived from Aspen yesterday. Badly Burned. – Little Eddie Lambright, the 4-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Lambright of 118 West Golden, was badly scalded yesterday by an overturned kettle of water. Dr. Sims was called and found the little fellow’s left leg burned quite deeply. It is not thought that his injuries will result seriously. Oct 16, 1898: Miss Jessie Kerns, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. Hereford for several weeks, left for her home in Easton, Mo., last week. Oct 19, 1898: Divorce Suit Filed. – William L. Lambert brings a suit for a divorce against Mary T. Lambert. He says that they were married in Burlington, Neb., on Oct. 31, 1886, and have one child. He says that she has been guilty of extreme and repeated acts of cruelty without any cause or justification whatever, and he therefore desires a decree of divorce. Oct 29, 1898: Victor: Mrs. Jake Forch is receiving a visit from her mother, Mrs. Resina Kupfer, of Atchison, Kan. Oct 30, 1898: Miss Phelps of Sioux City, Iowa, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Frank Smith. Mrs. Mitchell is entertaining her sister, Miss Adelia Rogers of northern Michigan. Mrs. Taylor Harrison and little daughter Genevieve are visiting in Colorado Springs. Mrs. Peer, who has spent the last six weeks with her mother, Mrs. E.E. Martin, Left Thursday for her home in Greeley. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas De Masters expect to leave soon for Mexico. They have rented their pretty home on Carr avenue, and are spending the time with their son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Walker. Nov 5, 1898: Mrs. J.L. Sallee of Denver, is in town for a few days, visiting her father, W.W. Oakes, and looking over her mining interests. Nov 6, 1898: Elkton: Mr. W.W. Yale and wife, with their three girls, Naomi, Ruth and Esther, have left on a six weeks trip to Smithville and various points in Missouri, on a pleasure trip. Mr. Yale ahs been in the employ of the Elkton as one of the experienced engineers for over two years, and is now taking his first needed rest and recreation. Mrs. Fred Berbower is entertaining her brother and his wife and baby, Mr. and Mrs. E.S. Lack. Nov 13, 1898: Miss Maude Gibbons, from the Cloud City, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Will Dickinson. Nov 19, 1898: Elkton: Mrs. Elizabeth Barnett of California is visiting her son, Sam Bixler, for a few weeks. Elkton: Mr. Fred Semple and wife, of Colorado Springs, have arrived in Elkton and will make their home in this district. Mr. Semple is a brother-in-law of the popular Billy Ellebrecht. Nov 23, 1898: Cora Buchanan filed a complaint against William Buchanan in a suit for divorce. The grounds are desertion. W.S. Morris is her attorney. Nov. 27, 1898: Elkton: Mr. J.G. Bourne, the well known merchant, has been enjoying a visit this week from his wife and two daughters, Florence and Gertrude, who came up from Colorado Springs to spend Thanksgiving. Elkton: Marion Brasfield and wife have returned from Smithville, Mo., after attending the obsequies of Mr. Brasfield’s father. Nov 30, 1898: Anaconda: Mrs. Douglass, mother, of the postmaster, has been called to the bedside of her sister, Mrs. Captain John Adams, at Decatur, Ill. Mrs. Adams is nearly 80 years of age. Dec 1, 1898: Elkton: Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Yale, with their three daughters, Naomi, Ruth and Esther, have returned to their home in Elkton, after a most delightful visit to Missouri and Kansas for the past five weeks. It was Mr. Yale’s first rest in the past two years, and it was most welcome. He again pulls the throttle at the Elkton, with his accustomed ease. Elkton: Miss Maggie Vernon, after a year’s visit with relatives near Greeley, has returned to Elkton and is at home with her grandmother, Mrs. Lambert. Dec 4, 1898: Elkton: Mrs. Baney and her sister, Miss Agnes Burke, leave tomorrow for Florence, Mrs. Baney for a short visit with friends, while Miss Burke expects to reside there. Dec 10, 1898: Miss Nellie McDonald of Denver, is in Cripple Creek, the guest of her sister, Mrs. Wright. Goldfield: James Holland, a brother of Mrs. Harrington, reached here last night from Calument, Mich. He will remain all winter. Dec 11, 1898: Anaconda: Miss Kimmie, of Cheyenne, Wyo., is visiting with her sister, Mrs. A.F. Hartman, this winter. Miss Kimmie is quite a welcome addition to Anaconda society. Mrs. King is entertaining her mother, Mrs. Roe, of Leadville, who will remain until after the holidays. Mrs. Palmer of Leadville, is expected in the city Monday to visit her daughter, Mrs. Keith. Dec 15, 1898: Mrs. K. O’Connor of Plattsburg, Mo., is visiting her sister, Mrs. J. Conley, of this city. Dec 25, 1898: Dr. and Mrs. Sanford Hoag of Denver are spending Christmas with their children, Mrs. A.G. Burton and G.S. Hoag.
