School was four miles from my house, and Crist and I lived three miles apart. My Uncle Clarence Linney took me and other McLaughlin kids to school in a horse and buggie. Crist walked to school form his parents farm. 1915; When Crist was eight years old ,school was consolidated, we both were moved, he attended the school in Buckingham.  I was six, I attended McLaughlin school in New Raymer one mile from my house. 1916; When I was in 5th grade all the country schools were consolidated again. All the Fritz's kids and McLaughlin kids were moved back to New Raymer school district ,we attended Lincoln School. I found a picture of two school buildings in New Raymer , sitting side by side. One was the old one room school house, and the other a new brick school house built in 1915 called Lincoln School. After reading Edith's journal I know the first school Crist and Edith attended was called Gardner School, I believe Gardner School was the one room school house ,and it was in New Raymer. In 1915 students were moved from the one room school house to different schools, maybe so they could close it , and build the new brick school house. The new school was finished in 1916 ,and Edith said the students, including the Fritz kids, were moved back to New Raymer, and attended Lincoln School. Does Edith's words consolidate mean in 1916 Lincoln School was a school for all grades, and maybe later as more students moved into the area it was just a high school. Picture Newly built Lincoln School, one room school house still standing is on left side. The cornerstone for this New Raymer school was laid on September 15, 1915. School began in the fall of 1916 and in May of 1918, it saw it's first graduates. The school existed until 1965. It was sold at auction in 1967 and donated to a church that tore it down to use the bricks to build a new church. The building on the left is the old one room school house (identified by the three windows on the side.) Notice; Raymer Colorado printed on the school picture. The town called Raymer burned, after it was rebuilt it was re-named "New Raymer".
