WWI Draft Call - May 10, 1918, Yuma County Colorado http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/yuma/military/ww1/draft19180510.txt Contributed by Arlene Glenn Transcribed by Lee Zion ================================== Yuma Pioneer, April 19, 1918(Headline) Latest Draft Call Will Take 11 From County Colorado will provide 696 more men to help lick the Kaiser. This is the state's quota of the latest draft call, issued Monday by Provest Marshal General Crowder. The total call is for 49,843 men. Yuma County is expected to furnish 11 men. They will be entrained in the five day period beginning May 10, 1918. Their names and present postoffice address follow: Thomas S. Bryan, Yuma Weaver Stanley Williams, Yuma Lester Fletcher, Midland, Michigan Leroy Robert Gant, Wray John L. Davis, Yuma Ralph Lewis Ostraner, Armel Theodore H. Woodbury, Yuma F. Leo Baldwin, Yuma Raymond Huffman Paris, Wray DeLarent Juhl, Jaqua, Kansas George Roy Glasser, Wray The call came as a surprise to the local board, as they had just finished working on the call of several weeks ago, the men of which are to entrain April 26. Frequent calls for men in the near future are the forecast by the local board. The great need of men on the Western front as a result (of the current offensive is apparent). =================================================== Contributed for use by the USGenWeb Archive Project(http://www.usgenweb.org) and by the COGenWeb ArchiveProjectUSGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in anyformat for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.Persons or organizations desiring to use this material, must obtainthe written consent of the contributor, or the legal representativeof the submitter, and contact the listed USGenWeb archivist with proofof this consent.
