M. M. Elmshauser officiating. Burial followed in Grandview Cemetery. Mrs. Heindel came to this community 62 years ago with her family who were pioneer homesteaders. She spent the remainder of her life here. During this long sojourn here she won universal respect in the community for her friendliness, graciousness and ability. In her passing the community lost a beloved neighbor and useful citizen. Sophie Margaret Heindel, daughter of William and Wilhelmina Renzelman, was born at Breman, Germany on September 12, 1877. In her infancy she was baptized in the Lutheran faith. When she was four years old she came to America with her parents. First the family settled at St. Charles, Missouri then in the fall of 1887, they moved to Colorado and homesteaded about 10 miles west of Wray. In 1895 the family moved to another location southwest of town. On January 23, 1895 Miss Renzelman became the bride of William Heindel, Sr. and the couple were to become communtiy leaders and builders who contributed greatly to the development of their town and county. Eight children were born to them, all of whom survive. They are W. J., Christian, Edward, Theodore, Robert, Mrs. Marie Keenan, Mrs. Bertha Brownlee and Mrs. Katherine Shroyer. Following their marriage, the Heindels first lived on a farm near Wray. In 1901 they moved to Wray and the following year built the home where they have lived since. Mrs. Heindel died Tuesday evening of last week after a short illness at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 10 days. Besides her husband and children, survivors include three brothers, W. G. Renzelman, Henry Renzelman and F. H. Renzelman and one sister, Mrs. Harry Mekelburg.
