Dora Mae Upchurch was born on a farm in the Kirk area on May 10, 1905 to Wilford and Nana Mae (Gibson) Upchurch. She married T. A. "Ted" Heindel on October 25, 1930 and they had two children, JOhn Edwin and Margaret Dianne. Dora assisted her husband, Ted, in operating the Heindel Motor Company from 1933 until 1957. At that time she and Ted built, owned and operated the Butte Motel, which they operated until May of 1967. Dora was active in the Wray United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, the Wray Women's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Preceding Dora in death were her husband, Ted; daughter Diane; granddaughter, Debbie Walz and grandson, David Walz. Survivors include a sister, Beverly Grogger of Belton, Missouri; niece Shirley McLaughlin and husband Jim of Wray; sone John and wife, Betty of Colorado Springs; nine grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Memorial services for Dora were held on December 18, 1995 at the Wray United Methodist Church with Rev. Merlen Barner officiating.
