Benny Leroy Higgins was born on August 7, 1944 in Yuma.  He was the fourth 
child of seven born to Benny Leroy and Clarabelle HIGGINS.  He died on Monday, 
August 23, 2004, in Vernon.  Benny attended the Yuma schools, he worked hard 
on the family turkey farm.  He also did well drilling for Burgess Well.  He 
also had a gift from God.  He and a dear friend, Jim PARTCH, did mechanic work 
together since they were very young.  They were also the best of friends.

Benny was married to Shirley Ann BOYD from St. Louis, Missouri, on December 
31, 1964.  They were blessed with two sons and a daughter, Bobby Leory, Linda 
Jean and Daniel Dean.

Benny enjoyed his family.  He had to grow up fast and take care of his 
siblings after the death of their mother in 1962.  He enjoyed many friends.

Benny was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, Benny Leroy Sr. 
and Clarabelle GISI HIGGINS; his brothers, Howard and Billy; and his son Bobby 
HIGGINS.

He is survived by his ex-wife and close friend, Shirley HIGGINS; his daughter, 
Linda HIGGINS; his son, Danny HIGGINS and friend Karen STOUT; grandchildren, 
Staci HIGGINS and Kalen MCDONALD; sisters, Nellie TALADAY, Roberta CHARLES, 
Rosalee FLORES and Betty LANGLEY; special friend, Jean LIPPERT, her children 
and grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and numerous family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the Baucke Funeral 
Chapel in Yuma, with Rev. Marcia SHAFER officiating.  Interment followed at 
the Yuma Cemetery.  Services were directed by Baucke Funeral Home of Yuma.
