HIGGINS, a resident of Yuma County for 30 years, died Monday morning at his country home some 10 miles south of Eckley. Funeral services were held at Bethel Church, south of Eckley, Wednesday morning. Rev. Roscoe WHITTENBURG officiating and the interment was at the Eckley Cemetery. He was born in Ringgold County, Iowa in 1870. Something like 35 years later he moved to Yuma County and took up a homestead 10 miles south of Eckley. The family has resided in that section ever since, but the quarter section has grown to over three full sections, although the original homestead continues to be part of the present big farm. Mr. HIGGINS was known as one of the most successful wheat and corn growers in northeastern Colorado. He leaves his helpmate of many years, ten children, five married and five single, eight granchildren, three brothers and two sisters. The brothers are Marion A. HIGGINS, Harry HIGGINS and Carl HIGGINS, all of whom reside in or near Yuma. The sisters are Mrs. Lulu GILMORE of Otis and Mrs. Minnie REYNOLDS of Delphos, Iowa. Additional Comments: Arza married Bessie Campbell. Their children were Joseph J., Willard Allen, Stella B., Leona Jane, Lillie Pearl, Alva A., Claude F., John E., Arthur Martin, Velma Irene, Eldon LeRoy, and Marvin E. Willard married Mary Olive RUSH; Stella married Otis Darrell MCGRATH; Leona married James Theodore MCCLANAHAN; Lillie married Fred Lorenzo FLEMISTER; Alva married Hazel BEACH; Claude married Delda Lucille MORRIS; John married Willie May COLE; Arthur married Dora Jean GREENWOOD; Velma married JOhn Lincoln MINCHELL III; and Marvin married Donna C.
