Yuma Pioneer Newspaper
Robert Paul Higgins was born to Carl Nathan and Martha May (Reynolds) Higgins 
in Mt. Ayr, Iowa on April 28, 1915.  He passed away October 10, 1996 at the 
Yuma Life Care Center at the age of 81 years, five months and 12 days.

He moved to the Yuma area at an early age with his parents and they 
homesteaded in the Abarr community.

He was united in marriage to Ruby House on September 17, 1934.  To this union 
three children were born; Clifford Higgins of Alliance, Nebraska; Dolores 
Hampton of Mitchell, Nebraska; and Robert L. Higgins of Guernsey, Wyoming.

His second wife, Edith Walker Higgins, passed away in 1973.  His present wife, 
Iva Higgins, is a resident at the Yuma Life Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Edith; his parents; three 
brothers and two grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, three children, 10 grandchildren, 24 
greatgrandchildren, two brothers, five sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-
law, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

His funeral service was Monday, October 14, at 10 a.m. at the First Southern 
Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Mowery officiating.  Interment was in the 
Yuma Cemetery.  Arrangements conducted by Spellman-Schmidt-Baucke Funeral Home 
in Yuma.
