Olive was united in marriage to Alfred "Spike" Spelts on October 20, 1946. To this union they had four children, Leon, Diana, Chuck and Larry. They were also foster parents to Barbara McCloud Smith and brother Robert McCloud for four years. She lived most of her life in Yuma County. At the time of her death she lived in Eckley with her husband, Alfred. She loved to collect may different things, especially her Avon bottles. She also enjoyed having her grandchildren around. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Smith in 1985, and her father, Loran Gurnsey in 1988, and her son, Leon (Jake) in 1988. Survivors include her husband, Alfred of Eckley; one daughter, Diana McMurphy and husband Harold of Denver; two sons, Chuck and wife Lois of Eckley and Larry and wife Rachel of Denver; daughter-in-law, Linda Spelts of Eckley; foster children, Barbara Smith of Yuma and Robert McCloud of Wray; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Crabtree and husband Meryl of Northglenn and Rozella Weed and husband Harold of Laird; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, may 31, 1989 at the New Life Fellowship, Rev. Brian Severin officiationg. Interment was in the Eckley Cemetery.
