All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/co/cofiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Morgan parmer8769@cox.net June 18, 2007 Dale Wells, 1906-1946 =============================================== Thursday, Jan 31, 1946 "Wray Gazette" newspaper Dale Wells, 39, automobile dealer and business and community leader at Wray, was killed instantly and State Patrolman Wallace McCarthy, 33, also of Wray, was injured critically Tuesday in a head-on collision near Hudson. The men were returning from Denver in a highway patrol car driven by McCarty when the machine collided with a truck driven by John McDougal, 59, of Denver. The truck driver has been jailed for investigation. Mr Wells was born at Goodland, Kansas June 25, 1906 and was 39 years, 7 months, and 8 days old at the time of his death. He moved to Burlington with his parents and on November 25, 1926 was married to Lenna Muller, who with their five children survive: Gene 18, Armor 16, Norma Jane 10, Dale Jr 8, and Jimmy nearly two years old. Other survivors are his mother, Mrs Alta Wells of Burlington and one brother, Albert of Cozad, Nebraska. In addition to being active in many civic organizations, Mr Wells was an honored member of the Wray Christian Church, was a member of the board of deacons, and a member of the building committee for the church. Funeral services were at the Christian Church Friday conducted by Rev. E. Tilden Lewis, assisted by Rev.
