The family moved to Colorado in 1912 and homesteaded north of Kirk, along the Arickaree River. Vera received her formal education in the Joes area, graduating from the Joes High School with the class of 1925. On Sept. 28, 1929, she married Scott A Wince and they spent all of their married life in Yuma County. Vera was employed at the Joes Grocery Store and then in the U.S. Post Office in Joes for many years. Last year Scott and Vera celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with all of their children and grandchildren present. Vera was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Virgil and Dale. She is survived by her husband, Scott; a sister Leola Lasater; two daughters, Louise Higgason and Imogene Burr; two sons, Richard and LeRoy; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Services for Vera Wince Burlington Record, Burlington, Colorado (Abstract) Thursday June 26, 1980 Services for Vera Wince were held Saturday June 21 at the Liberty School, Rev. Orval Gibson of Yuma officiating. Karen Hooper, soloist, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art". Accompaniest was Sherrilu Hogan Smith of Yuma. Pallbearers were grandsons, David Wince, Jimmie, Dannie, Ronnie and Dennis Burr and Jerry Higgason. Interment in the Yuma cemetery.
