Obituary Vera Mae Wince
Undated Clipping from Unknown Newspaper (Abstract)

Vera Mae Pryor was born June 5, 1905, to Lloyd H. and Stella Mae Pryor near Enid, Okla., 
and passed away June 18, 1980, at the Yuma Community Hospital.

The family moved to Colorado in 1912 and homesteaded north of Kirk, along the Arickaree 
River. Vera received her formal education in the Joes area, graduating from the Joes 
High School with the class of 1925.

On Sept. 28, 1929, she married Scott A Wince and they spent all of their married life 
in Yuma County.

Vera was employed at the Joes Grocery Store and then in the U.S. Post Office in Joes for 
many years. Last year Scott and Vera celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with all 
of their children and grandchildren present.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Virgil and Dale. She is 
survived by her husband, Scott; a sister Leola Lasater; two daughters, Louise Higgason 
and Imogene Burr; two sons, Richard and LeRoy; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.



Services for Vera Wince

Services for Vera Wince were held Saturday June 21 at the Liberty School, Rev. Orval 
Gibson of Yuma officiating. Karen Hooper, soloist, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How 
Great Thou Art". Accompaniest was Sherrilu Hogan Smith of Yuma. Pallbearers were 
grandsons, David Wince, Jimmie, Dannie, Ronnie and Dennis Burr and Jerry Higgason. 
Interment in the Yuma cemetery.
