BING, Co. D, 6th Conn., was one of the three sons of Mrs. Mary A. Bing who were in the service. He was the first of his company to yield to the hardships and privations of the campaign, in South Carolina. He died of fever, April 8, 1862, in the hopital at Hilton Head, at a time when the sanitary provisions of the army were insufficient to meet the wants of the wounded and the sick.
